My Star Wars started making a popping sound and re-setting. Took off the back panel and powered it up again. After a minute or so, part of the HV board started arching. I took a close look, and nothing was on it to make it arch. I dont know a lot about electronics, and even less about HV units. Can this be an easy repair (depending on whats wrong), or should it just be replaced? I met an operator the other day that said he can work on them, but has no time.

So should I even try to work on it? Or is this a job strictly for the pros?

Vectors are fairly simplistic. However, when any repair is done on one I would suggest going over the entire monitor at the same time to avoid future problems.
