I finally got my High Speed put back together. The playfield touchups are ugly, but I had to admit defeat and move on. If it ever really bothers me, I will sell it and buy one in better condition, or buy a repro playfield when they come out.

In the meantime though, I want this thing to play really well. I have the switches adjusted so everything is really responsive, but the shots don't line up like I remember. It is really hard to get the ball to roll down the wall to line up a ramp shot. The shortcut bounces off the wall a bit putting it out of reach of the flipper. I remember the kicker shooting the ball up above the flipper, then it rolled back down for a perfect ramp shot. Mine usually sends it up hard enough so it loops around and hits the jet bumpers. Am I just remembering it wrong, or are there adjustments I can make to get everything lined up. This machine played really slow when I got it and the switches were all out of adjustment. So, I haven't played a nicely tuned one for many years - my memory could be off.

Any guidance would be really appreciated. Are there any High Speed gurus here?

Thanks,
Paul

I double checked for level. It was a bit off. The game feels a lot more like I remember now, but the ball positioning is still off sometimes. The kickback lands the ball in a different place every time. The plunger is new - the tip on the old one was trashed. The shortcut is still bouncing the ball off of the wall as well.

Flipper adjustment can drasticaly change the play. new rubbers and waxing a playfield can also give it a total different feel.

The flippers and rubbers are new, and I think they are adjusted correctly. Not too sure how to test that.

The bottom Flippers are suppose to line up with the straight edge of the lane guide plastics. Sometimes they also have that little hole for adjusting; just insert a toothpick and the bottom of the flipper lines up there. I haven't played high speed in awhile but isn't the right eject hole suppose to shoot to the right loop and to the top-right flipper for the ramp?
Also you mentioned it played "slower"-a good wax job, perhaps?
