Hello! First adventure into pinball repair here. I've got a High Speed pinball and every thing works aside from the 3 pop bumpers and the 2 slingshots (may not be the right term, the "bumpers" right above the flippers).

Seems odd to me that they are all out, is there a common issue that could cause it?

I reseated all connectors and replaced the batteries inside the back box

Thank you!

Did you check all fuses out of circuit? Looks like you lost all the special solenoids. (look at the solenoid table). And while I no longer have a high speed or the manual at a glance, they all appear to be on the same connector, so check the ground associated with them.

Also, if the fuse is blown (which it very well may be), when you replace it, make sure when you turn on the machine to pay attention if a coil locks on. If it does, immediately turn the machine off and cut the wire to that coil.
Which would most likely mean a switch is stuck or you have a bad transistor.
The backbox probably has a chart to let you know what fuse it is.

So I did pull the special solenoid fuse and it was indeed bad although it looked good, I replaced it with one I had on hand (is good) but no changes

Unfortunately that's about as far as I can take you. I can fix pretty much any problem, but it usually takes time, the manual and the machine in front of me. (which is why I don't fix machines for people, lol)
5.6.3 gives you some insight.
Do some special solenoid system 11 searches on pinside too.

The fuse did blow again that I put in

Unplug the connector that goes to the special solenoids to the playfield. See if it blows again.
You have to find what is shorting it out.
Doubt it's the power supply.
If you are worried about the power supply, follow the wiki on testing all voltages. Just make sure to write them down. Most pins have up to a dozen test points.

Tell us the history of the game. Was it working well for you until recently? Did you just acquire it? Did you just add new rubbers or rebuild the pops?

Thank you I ordered some parts to have on hand, been out of town for work but will test things again tomorrow

I just recently acquired it, I'm fairly familiar with vids and monitor repairs now (atleast for the games I have) so I've started branching into pins. This will be my second one. Just got in a bunch of new rubbers and other parts to have on hand

Just wanted to update this thread, I got the game running! There was a bad coil in the left slingshot, the power supply was actually fine. The short was coming from the main board transistor Q75. New coil, and new Q75, and Q74 and everything is back to working like it should
