As many may remember, I held a HIGH SPEED INTERNET FOR KEN drive about 2 years back. It was VERY successful... and I managed to collect up enough dough to pay the DSL charge for brother Ken for a little over 2 years (I initially started the drive hoping to get a years worth!)...

Well, the time is coming very near when that dough runs dry... and if we want to continue to enjoy brother Ken's wisdom (and we all know Ken is in the top 5 of the most valuable resources here and on BYOAC), we're going to have to do something about it.

BACKGROUND: Ken Layton is an extremely valuable asset to this community. The man has helped countless folks with their tech issues. The guy lives on a fixed income and was trudging along with FREE dial-up internet a couple years ago. That severely limited him from helping folks as even a simple PHOTO took forever and a day to load up, let alone video showing issues, etc... so we did something about it and got him DSL. Being on a fixed income, the man simple can not afford DSL. He couldn't before, and he still can't now. So here we stand.

I ask you... has Ken helped you in the past? Was it worth $5? $10? $20 or more? Then this is your chance to show your appreciation. I will be collecting dough for Ken's high speed for the next month. If you'd like to contribute, please GIFT (so as to save on Pay Pal fees) any amount you would like to donate to: [email protected] - PLEASE MAKE SURE TO INCLUDE "FREE INTERNET FOR KEN" in the message. All proceeds will go to continue Kens DSL (and yes, I will call around to find the best deal I can find as well). If you don't do paypal and would like to contribute, PM me for my address and I'll shoot it over.

The bottom line is that Ken is one hell of a valuable asset to this community and if you have a spare fiver, it would be in your best interest to consider donating it...cuz one day brother Ken may be able to help you out of a jam!

I've previously thought about asking Ken if he has a paypal account to send some $$ for helping out. This is a great idea. money sent.

This is the 2nd time I did it... and I am hoping to meet or beat the last effort. Ken is a great asset to this community and it's the least we can do (IMHO). Thanks Ken!

I'll contribute. We love brother Ken and we want him to continue being a valuable member of this community. Thanks for stepping up Frizz.

Does he not have a job????

And, yes, he has helped me before and I am grateful. If it wasn't for him my dartboard wouldn't be working. Just wondering.

Yes he works, but his dough is just enough to keep his roof over his head and his bills barely paid. This thread isn't the place for this kind of douchebaggery. You either can help out or not... no one is forcing you... but there's no need to question the reasons why Ken's unable to pay for high speed. It is what it is... that's all that anyone needs to know.

Thank you.

How is it douchebaggery? If I am going to donate money I'd like to understand the situation. Honest question. And I am very fond of Ken. So, that's not what I was doing. Sorry if you thought that.

Situation is that Ken is on a fixed income. The amount of dough that comes in is pretty much equal to the amount of dough that goes out BEFORE such niceties as: phone, cable TV, or internet. In an effort to help to show appreciation for what the guy contributes to the community, I am asking for donations to help pay for the mans high speed internet. Without the donations, Ken would go back to "free" dialup. He's not in a position to continue with the high-speed payments.

Sorry for knee-jerking. That's the whole situation in a nutshell.

Everything you needed to know was in the topic post.

Honestly this is more explanation than what is needed IMO. Thread could have said "let's do something nice for Ken since he helps everyone out so much" and that would have been enough. Or better yet "let's give Ken some money". I would have contributed either way.

Thanks Ken!

I had no idea Ken had that kind of need. I think he is a great asset to the different gaming forums. Always helpfull and brings knowledge that keeps these games running.

Money sent.
