what a boring piece of shit movie. watch it if you like to see a missile command resetting itself over and over.

How much did you schlubs fork over for that vid anyway?

Let me know, cause if it's 20 bucks a pop, I am going to tape my Ms. Pac-ma resetting, and call it an arcade classic documentary, and give it a really witty creative title like: "high score", "game over", or "insert coin".

Oh wait......

I like it's reality approach to what it takes to do a marathon. It's nice to have every documentary on vintage video games. Bill's a good friend, maybe I'm biased.

its an exercise in futility and a masochistic act. its not really a documentary on a vintage video game, its a video of one stubborn crazy guy and his machine continually resetting.

The movie was okay....I kinda liked it. Anybody thats into playing arcade games could find it watchable. I cannot understand why he would even consider trying to marathon a machine that is known to reset. Replace that power supply and harness!! As a side note, the ending scene showing his other hobby was REALLY gay.

I liked the movie a lot. The resetting issue had nothing to do with the power supply and harness (from what the movie said). Anything that docs classic gaming is cool to watch, IMO. To each his own.

What is wrong with his machine, did he ever figure it out? He replaced the PCB in the movie, but it still had issues. I was thinking the power supply or connectors, but I also was wondering if it was perhaps software related...

I think they said the resetting glitch was part of a bonus cities/score issue. You notice in the movie he would sit and let a bunch of his cities die off on purpose. I don't think he was doing that part of it all correctly and in turn it was causing the game to reset. That's kind of why I think the 80M score might be BS. If the programming has a bug in it like that, how would someone have figured it out in the short amount of time the game had been out? Seems strange.

If I am incorrect about the resetting issue, I appologize. I remember it being because of that though, and not anything with the hardware.

I enjoyed watching it as there isn't a ton of arcade related videos out there. Always interesting to see what kind of history a record has and some of the factors taht go into attempting to break it. Thought the last scene was funny.

At only 50 minutes, it really isn't a proper movie at all. As a short film, I found it strangely interesting but I'll basically watch anything arcade related. I was happy that Roy Schildt (Mr. Awesome) wasn't in this one!

As a related topic, I have seen several documentaries that cover "obsessive" type pursuits. "Cinemania", "Grey Gardens", "Z Channel" are all good examples of this type of film that I can't seem to get enough of. Maybe seeing extreme examples of my tendencies make me feel more normal...whatever that is.

I enjoyed the movie. It is a great documentary about a person obsessed with reaching an interesting goal. I think Bill is a honestly a great character, plenty of charisma, not a phony, and someone we can relate to. I wont comment on the characters in another video game documentary.

I have actually watched it twice, but I happen to prefer documentaries, indy and foreign films to most Hollywood stuff, so maybe thats just me.

And BTW I think there is scandal in this one too. Listen closely to the supposed "champ" talk about setting the original world record. He refers to himself as "we" is very vague about game play, and doesn't even seem to know how long he played for.
