high score board - chalkboard or dry erase?

Felt letter board for me. I write like a mental patient.

The whole argument against chalk because of chalk dust sounds ridiculous. You'd think someone recommended a paint sprayer.

I think that the settling of regular dust would be a much, much bigger issue that will possibly make you want to clean off the top of your games every year or so. (If it matters to you).

a cheap LCD monitor hooked to a computer (out of site) that can display the high scores with some graphics, maybe a screen capture etc. Then with your smart phone you can get into the source file and change the scores after one goes down.

This method also allows you to do a top 5-10.

You can also get a nice digital picture frame and post the scores that way. You would have to update the .jpeg once the score is beat. Also can do top 5-10 this way and can get very creative!

Other options for me with 3 kids wont work. They would somehow find there way onto the chaulk/dry erase board and use it for whatever.

In my arcade area, I use a black dry erase board and some of these:

I'll vote dry erase, as it's easy and clean. I've used them for years with band rehearsals and I need to hang them up in the game room. I like trickman's idea above, go with a black dry erase board and the neon colors. As someone mentioned earlier, the white board would take away from your design, but the black board would look smokin' mounted on there.

I'd love to do a black dry erase but they only sell a white paint version in stores and the dry erase vinyl only comes in white. There is a company selling transparent dry erase vinyl and paint but they are pricey. I need to call them and research more.

I think I am going to go with a black chalk board until I can find a black dry erase solution that looks good. White would just be ugly.

I don't think that black dry erase board I have was too expensive. I can find out the brand, and I think I recall getting it at Hobby Lobby. I can also take pics of it in the room if you'd like to see it.

Finally got around to finishing up my home score blackboard. I painted and c
leared it yesterday. I love it when I hit a project with a clear coat.. it makes the
colors look richer and more vibrant. The airbrush paints I use are a flat sheen.

I think it turned out pretty good.

Yeah, I figured so, with the last digits not being 0, not to mention the 8 billion on Battlezone...I'd hate to think how long that would take :D
