Hello All!

Finally joined the hobby and got my first arcade game. It's a Time Soldiers, probably not the original cabinet, but it's a foot in the door. I grew up loving the rotary joystick games, like Ikari Warriors and Time Soldiers. I figured I look to get these first because the rotary joystick games are special in that they can't be mimicked by mame or computers.

Ikari Warriors is hard to find up here in NYC, so I'm looking to add it to my Time Soldiers with a MikesArcade 2-in-1 JAMMA adaptor. I'm already eyeing an Ikari Warriors with the JAMMA adaptor. I wonder if the Vector Labs Multi-JAMMA adaptor may be better than the MikesArcade, besides just having more pcb slots.

Learning a lot from searching the forums and reading as much as I can, but I welcome any advice, recommendations, opinions, all that makes this hobby more fun.

Hey, welcome to KLOV!

I love rotary games too and have had a bunch over the years. Regarding the idea of a multi-rotary, the hard part is not going to be the Mikes 2-1 or Vector Labs multi-JAMMA. The hard part is that those rotary joysticks have wiring harnesses that go straight to the PCB. So you need a way to split those as well. :(

Here's an awesome solution that someone came up with and the thread should also give you plenty of info about those special joystick harnesses.

Have fun!

Yes, I searched and found that someone built a board to run all the rotary joystick harnesses to...I wish I can find one of those now. Anyone?

I'll re-read that thread, as he detailed the parts needed and how to build it, but my soldering skills are not that great.

Anyone?
