So I am new here, love what I've read so far love the way everybody tries to help eachother like one big happy family. Any who Im from Chicago I own nba showtime, a mortal kombat 2 cab converted to marvel vs street fighter, a arcade legend 1 from Chicago gaming company and just picked up a DK cab that needs some tlc.
I enjoy playing games with my two son 10 and 6 who loved it when I came home with the first machine. I enjoy short walks to the buffet and long naps. But seriously the other hobby I have beside collecting games is training Brazilian jujitsu with form WEC bantom weight champion Miguel Angel Torres. I'm an ironworker by trade. But I immensely enjoy the technical aspect of learning to work on video games.
I look forward to reading more post and chatting with other members about problems we all run into. If there is anything I can do to help anyone out don't hesitate to ask.

Nice Title. Can't help but read that hearing the familiar voice of Dr. Nick.

Welcome by the way. You'll happen to notice there's quite a few of us in the general area. I've only met a few but the future might change that yet.

How long have you been collecting?

Yeah i love those little yellow guys!! I've been collecting for about two months. I bought the ultracade and nba off Craig's list and the marvel vs street fighter from Jesse and Ryan from pincade in Griffith IN. I just recently got rapped on line. I payed 140 for a solar warrior pcb then I got on this site and have seen people sell them to each other for like $60!!! Wow!! I'm looking for a DK cpo would you happen to know anyone that does quality work for a reasonable price? Thanks.

Offhand I don't remember see'n any DK CPO but I'm sure it's just a matter of using the search option. I believe www.gameongraphix.com sells them thou.

So I see you've been to Pincades then. Yeah I know Jesse, I've gotten 2 cabinets from him so far. He's a nice guy in my opinion.

These arcades are addicting. Seems like we gotta have them all.

There's a good amount of people that don't like to rip one another off, as they don't like to be ripped off either so prices here are a lot better then ebay. So it's best to check here first.

Yeah Jesse is a cool cat. He gave me a good price for a really nice cab. Addiction is right I told the wife it would only be two games and now I'm on #4!! What games do you have and where do you get most of yours from?

1. NFL Blitz 2k Gold in a 33'' Showcase 2 player - Bought empty cab with monitor from Pincades originally had plans for a mame, but found the pcb and control panel on CL in Indy for a good price.

2. N.A.R.C. Dedicated - Bought of Craigslist in a package deal, monitor has no green at all. Nothing that I really notice too much as I like the cab but don't play the game that often. Just have it for the artwork on it.

3. Area 51 Site 4 - Conversion - Bought in package deal with NARC. Both came from a guy in Lake Station, and well I originally just wanted this one, once I seen NARC I couldn't pass it up for the few extra bucks.

4. Neo Geo Single Slot - Slapped in a MERCS cab. Control panel is really messed up, I haven't had time to actually make a new one, as it's not high on a priority list yet. All I have for the system is Puzzle Bobble, which only uses one button anyways. - Bought off Craigslist, about an hour southeast of my location. This was to be a Mame cab instead. I didn't want to give up the showcase with Blitz, just a fun game to play on a big screen.

5. Tokyo Cop Special Police Reinforcement Sit Down Driver - Dedicated- Just sold this 3 days ago. CL picked up in Lake Station also. I need the money to fund other projects.

6. M.E.G.A. - Conversion - Picked up the War Cab from Pincades, and Jesse threw the system in for $25. Was non working. I revived the power supply and messed around with the internals, and finally got it fired up Friday Night. Just put it in the cab earlier today to play.

7. Mrs. Pac Man - Dedicated - Hand painted artwork. I originally bought this for a Mothers Day Gift for my mother. I still have the original wiring and boards in the system, but have retrofitted a 60-in-1 board in the system also. I did not hack any original parts at all. I have the original control panel in a box for safe keeping.

That's it for my cabinets, but I do have other parts / games around for future projects I had wanted to do.

I have a 39'' monitor that I need repaired, which will be built into a second showcase cab. I bought a blitz 99' board and 4 player control panel from a member here just for that also.

Tekken 4 in a Namco 246 system. Needing a cab still for that. Bought from a member here.

Killer Instinct 2 - Bought from a member here. Which is why I bought the War cabinet, it will become a dedicated KI2 cab soon enough. I did buy a dedicated control panel from a member here for KI1 that will fit perfectly in the cab too.

Area 51 (original) PCB and hard Drive- Bought from a member here - which i'm including with my Area 51 Site 4 cab, that's for sale. I don't want to sell the cab but I need funds to work on the other projects.

I believe that's it for now, I'm kinda at a standstill for the time being. Thou if the right cab/game came along I'd be buying that too.

I started the addiction in January of this year and I can't seem to stop myself!

Most of my games are found on CL, so far. I can't afford shipping or I would gladly buy some cabs from the members here. Thou I've already ran out of space, i'm sure my buddies wouldn't mind a few more games in the garage?

If you list the 51 and tokyo cop on cl I replied to that one just to see how far in IN you were. Tokyo cop is a great game! You seem to have a great collection going there! Where do you buy your tools and supplies from? How did you get into collecting?

Hey how are you gottifour nice to see someone that's a stones throw away. How long have you been collecting and what games do you have?

Tools, well I just pick up at a hardware store as I need them. If your going to get into the addiction a basic tool to have is a Digital Multimeter. Great for adjusting power supplies and making sure everything is up to spec.

Yeah that was me. I wasn't having much luck on the Chicago CL list so I ended up moving the machines down to Monticello. Within a mile or so of Indiana Beach. So far I've had better luck being that it's closer to Indy.

The story goes as follows. Every year I treat myself to a birthday gift of some sort. If I have the extra money. Well my buddy was looking for a big screen TV on CL and we just so happened to come across the ad for the Showcase. Which then peaked my interest, so I did some research and seen a few of them turned into a nice looking mame.

Ended up buying it and the hunt for parts was on. Bought a bunch of useless junk since I had no clue. Now it's not so useless as most of it's now in use. Found out certain games I wanted to play don't play well if at all on my spare PC and didn't feel like blowing another grand into one that would play them. Blitz being one of them, which lead me to find on CL as stated above.

From there once I followed the wiring etc in the manual, there was no turning back.

I don't believe I'm that far out of Chicago, I do drive out to Aurora every now and then it's less then a 2 hour drive.

Welcome! Lucky for you there are a ton of collectotrs in your area, many of which are members here. I had the privelige of collecting and meeting folks in the burbs for a couple years before i had to move back to the rockford area. I dont miss the burbs bull$**t but i DEFINITELY miss the game deals and fine collector folks that live in that area.

Hello! I've been collecting on and off for about 10 years but I've had major droughts in between.

I currently have:

Nintendo red tent with several boards and game options. I have sold several PCB's and daughter boards over the past year. I had like 15 functioning boards at one time.

Mario Bros widebody in decent shape, needs new CPO

Neo Geo dual slot with a 150 in 1 and a few other common titles. The monitor just died on me, WG25K2193 with no neck glow.

Popeye upright that probably needs a cap kit, locks and it's missing the front part of the base. I also have new side art that needs to be installed.

Stern Super Cobra currently has a 60 in 1 installed.

Sega Thunder Blade upright that needs a new monitor and cabinet work.

I am selling a lot of this stuff because I think it's time for some pins!!

Yeah your not that far out there it beats the traffic going up North. Im getting ready to convert my showtime to a sportstation probably by next weekend.

Have you guys seen the mat mania for $175 on CL? Im looking for a decent cab for a solar warrior pcb I bought. Just wanted to Know what you guys thought about it. I mean not for $175 of course.

From the picture's it looks pretty solid. Thou you can't really tell much from a limited amount of pictures. It looks like some sticker residue on the marquee so the game was probably on some route at one point in time.

Since Solar Warrior is 2 player non simultaneous it would probably work great with the control panel setup as is. If you can get it cheap enough then go for it.

Honestly I'm surprised it hasn't been turned into a 60-in-1 as it sits.

I actually just moved to Munster right by the Hammond border but I'm like 15 minutes from the Horseshoe , real close!

That is my Popeye and Red tent on there and I was about to put this Neo Geo 2 slot on too until the monitor died.

I email the owner he said that while he was playing the game he just heard a pop and then the machine went dead. I asked if he tried to power in up after that and if so what happened as far as lights sound u know anything like that. he replied that the game would just make a buzzing sound and that was it.
So what do u think does that sound like a major fix or something a newbie without tech expierience can handle?
