Hello! I found your lovely forum after getting a pair of arcade cabinets that need some TLC. I have no idea the history of where these cabs came from but I'm looking forward to digging into what they need to repair.

I have a Q*Bert (turns on but screen just shows garbage) and Baby PacMan (turns on but screen has just solid color). If anyone knows how to find the serial for the Baby Pac that would be great! Both have been stored in the back of a garage under a tarp for years and have some water damage and (what I understand is) typical corrosion.

It'll be a little bit before I can clear space to properly start removing parts to test and repair but I'll be sure to pop in here to share the journey. Thanks for this amazing resource!

Welcome! Sounds like a couple great projects to work on!

I used to have a Baby Pacman machine. Half pinball/Half Video game. To make that reliable there are a whole list of things that will need to be done, But first you'll want to look at the main MPU as Bally used a battery on the board that leaks and can do a lot of damage. What area in Michigan are you in?

Michiganders are like the prison rape gang of KLOV. You'll have our protection here. Welcome.
Geez... nothing says welcome more than reference to prison rape...lol.

In any case, I'm new here too, and people have been incredibly helpful with resurrecting my first 2 games, and I'm well into my 3rd. Welcome!

Welcome to klov!

(Where in Michigan?)

Thanks for the welcomes!

I'm in SE Mich - Metro Detroit area.

Baby Pac doesn't seem to have gotten the battery leak going, and both (from what I can see with a flashlight peering into the cab) have minimal corrosion. But never know when you start pulling it apart. :D For now I'm watching lots of videos, reading and collecting tips, diagrams, and resources.

Fun fact: I'm old enough to have visited arcades in my youth but I have never played Q*Bert. This restore will be the first time.

pinwiki.com has some great information on Bally Pinball repair. There was a mod to the MPU in Baby Pac-Man (as well as Grand Slam and Gold Ball) that you have to watch for if you want to swap an MPU board with another early game. There is also Pinside which probably has a dedicated Baby PacMan thread

Although my Baby Pac-Man is long gone I still have a Mr and Mrs Pacman pinball (actually 2nd one I've owned).

If you get stuck on the Baby Pacman I do lots of Bally Pinball board repairs.

Welcome to the forum! I have a Baby Pac as well. It has some issues that I really have not have time to look at. But it's somewhere down the list of games to work on.

Welcome! I just joined recently. Wish I could find games like Q*bert here in Mass. Mostly trashed pac-mans for $1,000, and endless arcade1ups...hehe.
