Hey Circuit board and electronic smart guys LOOK AT THIS!

So I am nerely complete with my cabinet restoration for my dual monitor PC-10. I have nearly completed my collection of games. I have 5 boards filled with carts, will probably pick up a 6th when I get the remaining games and will probably include some bootleg games.

Anyways I said look at this for a reason.

I am looking to "commision" so to speak someone to make me a 5 or 6 board PC-10 Dual monitor switcher board. Or if not make toss out some suggestions. I am terrible with a soldering iron, and while I understand all that would be involved (PCB, diodes, relays etc) I lack the hand skills and experience to make such a device.

I am wondering if anyone out there would like to take on such a project and if so what they might charge for such a thing.

I am open to suggestion and thoughts!

Thanks for looking.

This might be easier to look at as a two part process. While some engineers can design and layout PCB's, most only want to take on either design or layout.

In both cases since this is something new, you will need to have trial and error testing done on the design side and the layout pcb side to complete this.

People like Mark Spaeth, are exceptional in that he has the knowledge to do both and put the time and energy into such a project and test until it's right.

Also, IF it's not a simple design or one that someone else has already created that you can steal, you might be looking at more than a year to get it completed. That's just a realistic guess.

If testing goes well this weekend I am going to be releasing something myself to the KLOV community that I have been working on for a year.

I think I mentioned this in your last thread on this, but I don't think you replied (or I missed it). Could you use an existing JAMMA switcher (w/ adapters), plus an added video switcher circuit for the 2nd monitor? The audio is just mono (like the NES), right?

I doubt a 6 PCB PC10 switcher would be a big seller, but they already make a 6 PCB JAMMA switcher... so there's no point in reinventing the wheel if it really just needs a minor modification to add another channel of video switching.

Thanksfor the replies...goodluck with the testing Tronic.

DogP, the dual monitor nature of it causes issues. I hadn't completely looked into it, but the control panel wiring would require an asston of soldering, and a bunch of diodes. That was alone a pretty big negative.

That and the 6-in-1 switchers aren't exactly the most robust pieces of equipment...so to speak.

I was wondering mainly if anyone here could clue me in on someone who might want to take on this project, as a one off, and if it would even be worth it.

You never know someone who knows more then I might be working on something similiar and could perform some slight modification etc. Kinda like your line of thinking with the existing 6-in-1.

ie you don't know until you ask.

From a quick look, it seems like you could use this: http://www.jammaboards.com/store/6-in-1-multijamma-switcher-pcb/prod_250.html , plus 6 of these: http://www.jammaboards.com/store/jamma-extender-harness/prod_247.html .

The PC10 connector looks to be the same as Punch Out, which is 56 pins (like JAMMA), so you'd just need to rewire the extension cables to be a PC10 to JAMMA adapter. I think you could use that for everything except the second monitor, which wouldn't be difficult to create an additional switch for. Then you'd just tap off a pin from the JAMMA switcher that tells which second video to switch.

I don't know anything about that specific JAMMA switcher, but it seems like they get good reviews. Rewiring all the JAMMA extensions into adapters would be tedious, but not difficult.
