Hello.
Just found this place and not sure where to start. I live in Canada and at an auction last week, my wife and I bought two funky looking console slot machines (at least I think that's what they're called) that we were told are from the 50s or 60s. One actually still works. It takes nickels and is called "Keeney's Summertime". It doesn't seem to pay out in coins when you win (a counter on the console clicks higher, maybe some kind of credits?).

The other machine looks older. It says "Circus Wagon Wheel" on it and it lights up, but doesn't seem to work. We did get a small puff of smoke from it and a nasty sounding electrical sound. It looks like it needs the relays and contact points cleaned. Any advice on doing this? Are user manuals available? We know very little, other than we think the machines are cool looking.
Thanks for any advice.

Some of these had hoppers that dropped coins but most had that replay meter ... the shopkeeper would tally up the replays, knock 'em off and pay you in cash.

Finding a schematic could be a chore.

Your best chance to find them is likely through Ray Watts in Galveston Texas

These types of gambling devices are also called "Flashers" due to all the lights in them...

Thanks for all the advice! I bought some aerosol contact cleaner and a box of swabs so I can start cleaning the two machines.

And looks like I will be hunting down a manual or two for sure. The one machine that suddenly worked now makes a horrible buzzing sound and the credit wheel seems stuck on 1.... Sigh... Here we go.
