I have searched but haven't been able to find what I'm looking for so let's give it a shot. I have a Blue Nintendo cab that is particle board so it has vinyl on the cab and I'm trying to find the best (and easiest) way to remove the vinyl. I have tried using Citristrip but it has given me no results so far. Is there another type of paint stripper that would help or should i get a sander on it. I have someone I can borrow an orbital sander from would 220 grit do the trick? Thanks again this is my first restore and learning a lot.

I just didnt want to spend another 30 bucks for a heat gun

Try a good hairdryer to test a corner first before you go spend. I used a heat gun and found that too hot left all the goo on the machine, too cold and it pulled paint/wood. In general, the vinyl I pulled came off best at a "warm to the touch" level rather than hot.

Post some pics, much more fun to look at! :D

The machine I pulled the vinyl from can be seen here in stages of completion.

You say 'I have a Blue Nintendo cab that is particle board SO it has vinyl on the cab'. The particle board cabs had laminate on them originally. Is there vinyl installed by someone over the laminate? Or are you referring to the laminate as the 'vinyl'?

ok then it's laminate haha This might explain why the citristrip didnt work. I thought I read it had vinyl from the factory. Will heat work or what's the best strategy for removing laminate. Thanks for the heads up and schooling a noob. Also I'll take some pics tonight I need to make some progress so this will keep me motivated.

You shouldn't need to remove the laminate. If you did choose to, you need to peel an edge and dump mineral spirits in from the top down, using a metal putty knife to loosen the contact cement bond as you go.

so I should just basically clean/sand it, prime then paint over it and be fine? I'm wanting to paint it dk jr orange. I didn't want to remove the laminate but I thought it would look better if I did.

It's what we all have done - bondo where needed, sand bondo flat other wise scuff the rest, wipe it down, prime, lightly sand, wipe it down and then paint it.
