silent scope

well i played with the machine a bit. the 5 volts was too low. changed the power supply and now it boots to a error 11p! damn it! anyone know who sells the new chip to fix these? thanks!!

nvram

i found the tread and read it. thanks for the tip. do you know if anyone has these for sale? i dont have a programmer so thought maybe someone is selling these. i found one for sale but still waiting to hear back. if you know where i can buy one please let me know. thanks again!!

if you PM'd user monster kong, he only has one left for fatal judgement, the euro version.

If you find someone with these please let me know as well, sounds like a good back up item to have..

Yup, there are quite a few variations. I do have a Rom burner and burned my own. I'd recommend goin to the experts on here first (channel maniac esp) but if needed I can burn one if you can I'd what version you have.

rtc

i pm'ed him already but haven't heard back yet. does it display the version during the boot up screen? if you could help that would be great! i will pay for your time and the chip. do you have extra chips on hand? thanks again!!

It should say something like v1.2 or 1.3 - mine was a 1.2 - on the top right during the checks. I don't have any on hand, but jameco has em for $16 or so.

Btw I highly recommend a good desoldering station to replace these, and install a socket while your at it. This guy was a bugger to clear out, so I broke down and bought a solderwerks blackjack bk6000.

rtc

i will check with jameco to see what i can find. i have a pace digital de-soldering station so i should be ok on the removal. do you have a part number on the chip from jameco? thanks again!!

Yup, thats it. Dont forget the sockets! Jameco Part no. 112299

Mine is a 1.20, so it took the sscopeb rtc dump. Yours should take the either the sscope or sscopea dumps, im just not sure which. I have both that I can send over if you have a rom burner, or I can burn 1 of each, or just send 1 chip back n forth.

silent scope

i just wanted to update this thread silentninja1 was a great help! he sent me the rtc info and i was able to burn it to a new chip. stuck it in and now its working again. so if you get the 11p error it can be fixed with a new programed chip! good luck to all and thanks for the help guys!!

how much did it cost and would you burn one for me? I have a version 1.20 and I want a chip just in case. I dont have a burner though

Chip is about $16 from jameco plus shipping - I think its about $7 min - you'll also need a socket - about a quarter. For version 1.2 of the original silent scope you'll need sscopeb from the mame sets. I'm not sure of version numbers for the dark silhouette versions but we can figure it out if needed. I can burn one for you if you cover costs of the shipping and parts.
