I just picked up an Assault this past weekend. It's one of my favs from BITD. I'm even springing for NOS joysticks, crazy I know.

So, the problem I'm having is first the monitor colors were all funky. After some quick reading I find ther monitor is plugged into the non-inverted connector on the board. Cool! Problem solved! Nope, after I plugged it into the invert side, no picture at all. So I guess the inverter board is bad?

I posted in the wanted section for a new inverter board, but I'm posting here to see if there is anything I might have missed.

Thanks for your help.

OK, I bought a "tested and working" inverter board off the forum and swapped it in. Still no picture. I can still plug into the non-invert side of the board and get the negative screen. I have 16V at the red power wire.

Anyone have any ideas other than I got another bad inverter board?

Thanks

Have you tried plugging the video cable straight into the chassis....omitting the inverter board all together. During that time period of Atari, they used Sanyo monitors....factory. As opposed to the Nintendo Sanyo EZV series.....Atari used the Sanyo EZY series. Thses have video inversion built into the chassis. On your chassis, is transistors TR201, TR202, and TR203 populated....or just jumper wire? If they're populated....you don't need the inverter board. If they're just jumper wire.....you need the inverter board.

Thanks for the reply. I went and looked at my monitor. I do not have transistors, I have jumpers at those locations. So, I do need the inverter board.

I guess I'll put out another request for an inverter board.

Any tested working ones for sale?

You could also populate the missing parts.....eliminating the need for the inverter board.
