Steadily working on a Rockin Bowl O Rama that I got DOA.

Have it booting and running, no I/O error, but can't get any response from the controls or coin door.

Checked for continuity and have it connected, tried swapping for a new serial cable and no change.

Anyone have any ideas?

Buy the new system and ditch the old boat anchor. They cost a fortune to fix, and just aren't worth the headache.

I still feel my $600 RBOR pain from Hollywood Candy, where I replaced the entire PCB, then the IO, the interface, then the hard drive, then the LCD was even bad.

$600, and it earned about $50 before it crapped out AGAIN. The new Raspberry Pi based unit seems to be the fix from Bandai/Namco.

Is this available?
Per Namco/Bandai, yes.

Trying to hopefully fix what ive got since I'm 90% there.

Also found a monitor model that fits perfectly after decasing, and has a dvi connector so I can eliminate the driver board for that. The only issue is I'll need to grind down or flatten the tabs on the sides. The existing mounting brackets align perfectly with the new monitor.

Mine was an LG. I found the numbers when I pulled the flat panel out, and found one on eBay working for $60.

Betson wanted $600 for a replacement. Argh.

Only bad thing about this one is it has a separate power brick for 120v -> 20v.
It's a small price to pay. If you look for my RBOA thread around 2012-2013, you'll find what I used.

Here is the old thread. I don't mention which LCD I used unfortunately, but I searched eBay for the number on the one in the head, and it came right up and worked.

I am currently working on a fix to use newer hardware as well as the motherboard lock, hopefully a few more weeks and I'll have something worthy of publishing
