Help with playing technique?

Boy this is probably my stupidest question ever, but I am getting seriously pwned by my game's outlanes. I have new rubber and posts, and have adjusted the outlane posts to the smallest configuration, but I seem to lose the ball down the outlanes at a frustrating rate.

Does anyone have some Pinball Wizard techniques they care to share?

Thanks,

RM

It's in my sig.

Who Dunnit?

I'll take a look for the DVD.

RM

Yeah, I looked at that after I posted. Anyway, I have only played that macine a couple of times. I don't remember why I didn't play it more, something else must have caught my attention.

Gameroom Magazine sells the DVD as do some other pinball suppliers.

Remember these machines were designed to make money. Try adjusting the tilt so you can nudge it a little more.

OK, Glennon, we're getting somewhere - it's knowing how to nudge it, not being able to nudge it enough. I have never tilted it with my nudging so far, although the tilt is functional (manual test).

So, how do I nudge to avoid draining via the outlanes?

Usually you just nudge the machine the opposite way you want the ball to go. One of my machines drains so bad that I disabled the tilt and I'll nudge it so hard that the machine moves 4 inches or more.

Elastic bands? haha

On a more serious note, I find that once you play the machine more you learn what NOT to do and where NOT to hit the ball. Most tables will have certain angles and shots that are prone to cause drains. Learn those.

Try nudging earlier too, sometimes if you nudge to late, then it doesn't help at all. Try to get the nudge off before it even gets to the outlanes, that may help.

I HIGHLY suggest the Pinball 101 dvd as stated a few posts ago. I just got my copy about 3 days ago from Amazon and am very happy with it. I know that many of the techniques may be "old hat" for many of the experienced players here but it really helped me tons. Check it out, you won't be disappointed!

Try to nudge so it bounces/ricochets off the outlane post rubbers. I'm not the best nudger - but nudging the machine w/ a forward bump tends to work for me when it comes to outlanes....esp. if you see it coming. Sometimes you get one of those "nothing but net" drains that are so fast I dunno how anyone could save it....but if the ball is kinda casually headed toward the outlane, you can time a nudge so the ball gets a good bounce off the rubber that it wouldn't have gotten otherwise.
