SOLVED! This Medieval Madness "was" working fine, I addressed all of the previous error messages and for two days it was flawless. Then on the third day it started telling me to check switch 18 "shooter lane" but the switch tests good (with my meter) but tests bad in the "single switch test". During my troubleshooting I also noticed that switch 17 "right return lane" is also testing bad on the "single switch test", however this one isn't showing up in the error report on boot up, just switch 18? I've traced the connections and all check out good, both switches check out with my meter as do the diodes. Can someone make a suggestion as to where I might look next? For all intents and purposes these switches "should" be working.... Thanks.

This might sound dumb, but when I get that message on some of my games I know it is from not hitting them in x number of games.

I just take off glass, start a game and manually hit switches. This works primarily for all my williams system 11 games I've had, so just throwing it out there

Yea, I've seen that in other games too but the switches don't even register in the single switch test. This is really bugging me. I'm thinking of replacing the diodes tonight just to see if it makes a difference, i doubt it will...

Don't bother with diodes.

Your switches that are out start with a "1", go back up the one's wire color and see if you have a break or poor connection. Go 16, 15, 14 etc. Or 16 stuck closed.

And the shooter lane switch, go into switch edge test, roll a ball onto it and see if it closes and stays closed.

LTG :)

Check the switch matrix in your manual. Column "!" is a green wire with a brown stripe. Switch 16 is the left out lane switch. Switches 17 and 18 don't work. So you have a break in the green wire/brown strip from 16 to 17.

LTG :)

on my WHO dunnit? the little actuator arm just needed a little bending/adjustment

not bad for how many times the ball ran over it ?

HA! I found it... Broken wire at switch #15 (left troll target) I must have checked that half a dozen times but tonight as I was tracking that green/brown wire I thought I had actually pulled it lose. Maybe it was just barley hanging on because that switch was working. Thanks for all the help, I really appreciate it.
