Hello everyone,

I just joined but have been interested in arcades for some time. I've recently had an interest in making a 1/3 scale Mortal Kombat arcade that is as identical to the original as I can make it.

I've seen someone do it before, but I wanted to create mine a little differently. First off, I was going to actually install T molding around the unit and secondly, I'm trying to build the three-panel area below the controllers. I'm basing it off of plans I got from jakobud.com.

I'm using 3/4" MDF board for this build. The problem I'm running into is that I'm not sure how the original front was built. Are the three boards cut at opposing angles or is it flat on the ends with something filling in the joints? If anyone could shoot me some pointers or know of exact angled cuts that should be made, that would be super!

Here's a picture of the type of arcade I'm talking about:

I'm very excited to be a part of this forum and will be posting more in the future I'm sure.

miter joints, not sure on the angles.

your making a MK Moppet?

btw jakobuds measurements aren't exactly right. I tried putting them into sketch-up once and there were a bunch of things that were off.

MK Moppet is a new term for me. Not sure.

What I did was took the plans and divided them by 3 to get 1/3 scale. I'm using HAPP joystick and buttons. I plan to have the side art printed on vinyl and use an LED lighting fixture as a marquee display.

I know that I could just create a flat surface for the kick plate, but I wanted to do the angles so it would stand out.

If I come across any cuts that are off I'll either re-cut or just sand it down.

As far as I know there is no MK1 true sideart to have reproduced at scale.

I was able to find the side art at full size (the one with the dragon and johnny cage). I was just going to shrink it down in photoshop. I'll probably add more color to the edges so that it gives me a little play when I apply the adhesive and just trim off the excess.

For the marquee, I was just going to have it printed on regular paper since the back light is going to be LED. No heat, so no worry for burns right?

I found this site for printing on vinyl: http://www.hotbanners.com/vinyl-adhesive.html

If their quote is too high I might research a different company unless someone has any suggestions on here.

Something like this? or do you want more of the 3 cut front?

I'm looking at doing the three cut. This is what I'm going off of. I just wasn't sure at what angles I need to cut the ends or if there was some piece of molding that went in it's place.
