Help with k7000 hookup

I'm in Indiana -- 47122. Where are you?

Is this just the boards? Chance my tube is blown now? The tube I couldn't get colors right before, that's why I sent it off for repair.

I sent this dude a new flyback to install, does not look like he put it on!!

I don't mind doing low voltage repair... I just am super leery of this high voltage stuff. I've done a few NVRAM installs and chip sockets, it's not the cap that's my concern, it's I don't know anything about these boards and what else could be wrong and don't want to go down the rabbit hole of learning it the first time.
I would probably just replace that cap and try it again. If it works great, if not send out to someone else.

Me too, buying a shitty soldering iron and a cheap cap can accomplish this lol for probably like 25$ actually i think he mention he already has a soldering iron so 2$ if that lol.

Yeah I have all the tools, I just don't have the knowledge. Would rather pay someone to fix it for things I don't know :)

"You could put the hinges on the hands too, NEVER GIVE UP! NEVER SURRENDER!"

OK I powered it on, and bad news. I think

Looks to be the capacitor on the neck board that's ballooned out.
the - side of the cap is supposed to face the ground wires. this cap is installed backwards.

I don't know who you had work on this, but right on

Lmao "smoke is unfortunate" hahhahahahahhaha

The main fuse is prone to blowing if things are wrong with the power or horizontal section. This does not however create the magic smoke, like installing a cap backwards and checking your work.

"It wouldnt of past our test" wtf does that mean.

Also every k7000 has a cap there on the neck board.

"Blah blah usually a ceramic cap blah blah no polarity"

A k7000 has 3 bi-polar caps on the deflection board near the sync connector. Not the neckboard

I have never seen someone cry so much about their life to a customer, please feel sorry for him hes very busy. No one cares you paid him to do something, he didnt do it right he should fix it immediately free of charge.

It was never tested (shit happens, maybe it was confused with another chassis/customer). The ground wire from the neck that connects to the large heat sink would have never been removed/disconnected if it were tested. The wire from the flyback would have been connected to the neckboard if it were tested.

That cap on the neck board is sometimes a ceramic capacitor from the factory (which ceramic caps don't require polarity) but the traces on the neck board certainly have polarity if you are installing an electrolytic capacitor. This cap is nothing 'new' that needs to be done nowadays, changing/updating it with caps kits has been standard from the beginning.

Anyone know if he has a klov account? That response is beyond pathetic. This is a catastrophic failure, I wouldn't trust him at all. I've worked on other people's monitors for free locally because I feel bad charging someone for something I just do as a hobby but I've never done that to someone and actually every free repair I did for people ended up working out.

Look if you fuck up you fuck up, own the mistake and make it right. That's bullshit to be like I don't remember, I'm at a loss. Love the way you worded your response nimr0d you're trying to get to the bottom of it the right way!

that guy has beef with me, like for real. like sorry my Facebook got hacked by Russians and they decided to delete you.

yeah, I used to live by him. he went as far as to sell something out from under me just so I couldn't meet him. it was like that. so whatever dude
Be glad you never met him then, probably did you a favor. Guy sounds like a real asshat on his site's homepage: (this isn't his about me section)
Father. Small business owner. Arcade repair tech. Treasure hunter. Pop culture junkie. You've also seen my work in television, film and the pro wrestling ring.
If his dick goes any further up his own ass he risks phasing out of existence and causing a black hole.

Right I dont think ive seen one with a ceramic cap to be honest but I believe its in the notes of the cap kit if one is there to replace it with the electrolytic. Even if the chassis is not marked, although i think it is but there was so many k7000 revisions. I mean idk what he charged him but if you are going to charge and say you are professional should you not have knowledge on this.. i mean he did not know this or was like well this should work? Dosent have another chassis to cross reference? I purposely keep a rebuilt one of every model to make a double check pretty fast and simple to make sure i didnt put in a backwards cap i mean ive done it a few times we are all human. Hence the double check and hooking it up to a tube for st least 24hrs.

lmao i about fell out of my chair. I was thinking the same thing.

I will leave you all with this:

One of Scott's treasures, his Drew Barrymore collection.

If you lose a few brain cells watching it I cannot be held responsible.

yeah I know other people that know him. he had some pretty epic rants about Bill Mitchell years ago though. everything he listed there though is legitimate, he's been in some documentaries and was an independent wrestler.

A bunch of goodwill reject shit. That whole collection is worth less than a pack of cigarettes. Thanks for the link to the video gave me a good laugh. How the hell can you be a fan of Drew Barrymore? Most fake celebrity of them all

Nobody likes a cheater, everyone can agree on that. I'm not saying it's not legit and he's done all this stuff but he's glazing himself pretty hard for someone who relatively unknown and unskilled apparently. Wrestler was all you had to say.
