Hi, my Sinbad pinball is not working. It seems like it should be something simple. When it starts up, all of the lights come on and everything acts like it is working. I can give credits by pushing the lever...and then when I push the start button it makes the sound like it does when it starts, but nothing happens. No flippers, no ball, no reset of targets, nothing...and the credit doesn't go away. If I restart, the credit goes away. Any ideas? I have family in and we would really like to play. Thanks in advance!

Update...There were 2 bad fuses. When we replaced them, at first when we turned it on it didn't even want to reset. It finally reset and ...nothing. I flicked the ball into the lane and the game reset and worked. all of the targets went up, and it acts like it works. However, two rollover lanes and the two circle targets don't score and even if you knock the 3x 4x and 5x targets down it, only recognizes the 2x...and you have to flip the ball back into the shooter lane by hand. Ideas.

Also sounds like the coil that kicks the ball out isn't firing. The game won't start until the ball rolls over a switch when kicked out.Check the wiring to that coil.hopefully Lindsey will chime in to help...(or correct me)....

Do you have a manual? Follow the steps to run through the service system and test all the coils. The service modes leave much to be desired on Sys1 (I was spoiled by Pascal's board, so I barely remember how they work), but you should still be able to find out the status of the outhole switch and coil.

Worst case scenario about the non-working switches on the playfield - you have a 7408 chip on the CPU non-working, or the switch matrix spider chip is bad. Let's hope it is a wiring issue.

OK, I had some bad fuses, but they have blown again since I got it working. However, two rollover lanes at the top, two round targets and 4 targets in 3 separate banks don't score. Which means you can't get more than the 2x bonus. It seems that those things are all related somehow. Any ideas? Thanks for the help so far.

You have to refer to the switch matrix chart in your manual. It will tell you which switches are on the same column or row. It could be a broken wire somewhere, it could be a bad diode in the switch matrix diode bank, a TTL 74xx chip on the cpu, or the switch matrix spider chip on the cpu.

Start by familiarizing yourself with the switch matrix schematics and wire colors. Next, you have to continuity test all the way back to the connectors on the board.

SIDE BAR: Have you checked and/or replaced the connector pins at the driver and CPU boards?

Back to topic: If you verify your wiring is good back to the board, then your problem is on the cpu. At this point, the pinrepair.com manual has an excellent step by step guide to testing the CPU board.

Good luck.
