so i spent the day mounting my two vegas setups in my sportstation conversion. (i dont know what it was originally but it appears to have the proper showtime/sportstation wiring minus a medium res monitor) blitz and showtime work fine.

i tested dark legacy on a regular 2 player jamma cab with 8 ways and it worked fine.

when i have it hooked up to the sportstation cabinet, with 49-ways, the controls dont work.

i've messed with every combination of dips 3 and 4 (changing between 49 and 8 way and midway or regular harness.)

in the test menu, every position is being held down on the joysticks and pressing the buttons moves the sticks a little. the player 1 stick moves the player 4 stick a little and the other 3 do nothing.

im comparing the wiring diagrams and it looks like theyre totally different. has anyone ever had this problem?

do dedicated gauntlets use the I40 board? anyone have one to take some pics of the wiring? ive also got this little board with a ribbon cable that goes to the cp, i think to the i40 board.

cant believe its the same hardware, same time period, and everythings totally different.

the sportstation boardset was originally a showtime/blitz 99 that i upgraded. no problems with it.
the dark legacy boardset was originally a legends that i bought bare, dunno what it came from (ded or conversion).

my mind is hazy on this one, but if I'm not mistaken the Gauntlet boards (at least Dark Legacy) do NOT use the I-40 interface board, it handles the analog controls on the actual game board.

never messed with one of these personally, but from other threads I've seen I think that the difference between GL and GDL vs. Sportstation is that the Gauntlets don't need the I-40.

now there have been people that hacked their Gauntlet boards to run 8-ways instead, and as such, just ran their Sportstations with 8-ways too, but I think you'll understand when I say that's probably not a good idea. :)

I don't know if the pinouts are identical or not, but you can try just plugging the joysticks directly into the GDL board and see if that works. pain in the ass, I know. I wonder if there's an inline diode trick you can use like people do with the MK kick harnesses with those JAMMA 6-in-1's.
