Hello!

So I recently picked up a 19inch Chunghwa picture tube and what I hope is a compatible chassis. I bought them both new from a place called Arcade Factory that was phasing out the use of CRTs.

I have no experience whatsoever with arcade equipment. My goal was to build my own cabinet and use this as the monitor. I'm not sure what I even need to get the monitor up and running.

Is there a resource that explains how to assemble these things? Is there a place I can buy a compatible metal frame? What kind of power supply do I need? My goal was to use a raspberry pi to run all the software and interface with the controls.

I've linked some pictures I took of the tube / chassis. I can't seem to find any resources for the chassis (manuals, schematics etc). All I know is the seller said the model number of the chassis is CH-2000-20S.

I just wanted to start with some general questions but I'm sure I'm going to have more specific ones after some responses.

Thanks for the help!

Your chassis is identical to an Italian chassis called Pico that you can see here:

http://www.ebay.it/itm/ELETTRONICA-...902343?hash=item2128786fc7:g:RtEAAOSwaB5Xm9g0

It goes with minineck tubes with standard TV yokes (H = 2.5mH, V = 27mH).

And AFAIK it's 230VAC so I don't see how it could work in the US. I would need to inspect the PSU section to see if they made it compatible with 120VAC but I doubt it.

Your tube is a minineck so it's correct for the CRT socket of the chassis. If the resistance of the yoke coils is 2.7-3.0ohm for horizontal and 14-15ohm for vertical it will be OK.

A 19" frame shouldn't be hard to find.

Does that mean I should look for another chassis. If so do you have any recommendations. I assumed it would work here considering the company I bought it from was using them, or so I'm lead to believe.

Thanks for the reply.

I've checked the manual and it says there is a European and a US version and you must have the latter so no problem.

Oh well that's a relief. Could you possibly link to the manual you found? Hopefully it will be helpful in figuring out how to put these things together.

Does the shape/brand of frame matter? Are chassis built to a standard size so you can mount them in frames of a corresponding size? Guess I'm asking if any decent 19inch frame will be able to house my tube/chassis.

If you're in So CA (I saw the ad too), I have a G07 CA frame (supports the wider chassis) that you can have. You'll likely need to modify it with standoffs to fit the mounting holes but I guess it could work.
