I feel like I am taking a little bit of a beating here. Yes 90 bucks isnt a huge deal but why should I spend more then I need to on something? Thats like you guys saying we should only buy our pinballs from sites like pinrescue.com and pay $4000 for a old Gottlieb. Otherwise we really arent supporting the hobboy or the comunity right? I am one of those guys who is into both the pinballs and arcade games and know alot of the arcade guys and a decent amount of the pin guys want to pay shit for there games. So why am I going to pay shit for it but way over spend on something for it when I can find it cheaper.
BTW I was able to find the kit on amazon minus the polish for like $17.00. So yeah whats better for me $17 or $60?
Just my two cents.
I agree. I'm restoring these machines as a hobby, and I get told all the time "order this,
order that, it's only 30 bucks" etc. My problem is, it's 30 bucks x a million things.
For example, why should I buy a new light strip for my xenon, if I already have
one + LED's lying around? And it isn't just the strip, it's everything. If I did that, it
would cost me 5000 dollars to get a machine up and running. Then I could just order
a new one instead.
So, yeah, I can keep just buying things at 30 bucks, but I'd rather try to keep the
expenses down/use the original items in the machine.
It has nothing to do with being cheap...but I can buy the next machine if I don't
use the "it's only 30 bucks, if you won't use that, you're in the wrong hobby" - codec
for the money saved.
Trying to fix and clean these machines is a great hobby for me. I love it(mostly), and
it's a awesome way to get away from chemistry for me.
