hey ya'll,

I check the power supply and the +5 looks good.

what should i check next? what is the logical next step?

any help would be appreciated.

just got it to coin up with that crazy screen but the screen did not change. other than the "insert coins" disappeared. then it made some loud fuzzy sounds.

i pushed the "test" and got to this menu and it looks like this.

i don't know if then of this is useful information to help me, haha.

Did you check the 5V on the game PCBs, in several places?

Read thru the sticky thead, esp bits dealing with "physical damage", "power" and "connectors" or "interconnects".

After checking voltage throughout the boardset, removing and reinstalling all of the interconnects, and carefully inspecting every board for physical damage... I'd probably pull the EPROMs and verify their data. Not sure if that's an option for you.

so, I checked all over the board for power and everything is reading at 5V.

I pulled all of the boards out, inspected or damage and what not. all seemed good.

I pulled all of the chips, cleaned, and put them back in.

then put all of the boards back and I am still getting the same look on the screen.

there was a moment that i got to the diagnostic screen and it looked a lot better. i was able to go through the sound test. as i was going down the list, the sound test stopped working at one of the sounds. i forget which one though. it was maybe half way down the list.

not sure if that really helps diagnose this or not, ha.

Clean and reinstall any removable chips. Luis

If you can, while powered up, push on the chips just a bit while looking at the screen and watch for changes. Take off rings and jewelery first. A mirror might be needed or a helper to watch the screen.

Since it started to work then quit, I would bet on a connection problem...socket/connector.

ah, good suggestion. I'll give that a go.

Whatever came about with this? Im having similar issues; just a bunch of jibberish on the screen.
