Help Wanted: Smash TV Isolation Transformer Refurb or Buy?

Hi - I'm currently restoring a Smash TV - original dedicated 25" - and as I'm (newbie) testing the electrics and getting my head around the schematics and wiring diagrams, I think my transformer is no good. I'm getting 120v to one wire, but the rest don't seem to read properly.

I'm wondering if there's anyone here on KLOV that could help out and possibly restore/refurb it or perhaps has one that would work? I'm also unsure if any of the other Williams transformers I see on Ebay would be an ok swap out?

Pic of transformer label attached.

Thanks!

all i c is a useless midayway/williams # and a nice picture of the ground group ..mind posting a picture of the actual transformer

in your last pic , there is a safety switch. its meant to be pushed in with the back door in place but it also pulls out so things can be tested with the door off. pull the plunger out and then try to test the transformer.

Yes, I did this but no luck - getting some lower voltage than the schematics would suggest. I get a 120v from one wire but the other step downs seem off - not sure if I'm missing something here or how best to test the voltage coming off the transformer...

@ls1chris - I'll double check tonight, but recall I wasn't getting 120v there - which was strange as that goes to coin door from my recollection? It was reading something like 22v or something odd....

It looks to me like you have no power plugged into your power supply in IMG_6510 that molex 3 pin connector should be plugged into the 3 pin connector in IMG_6514 or any closer 3 pin with 110ac and ground.

You're right, I haven't plugged in the power supply - only testing the isolation transformer to ensure all the voltage is coming through correctly. I can't seem to get the right voltage to the lines feeding the power supply so I'm stuck there...

to start with
that is not called your isolation transformer
that is a game main transformer
next u have a group of pruple/white wires there
they should go to your monitor
if they do then the monitor should come ome when u power up the game
may not display but u should get a faint face glow and or heaters ? if not it is ehiter not pluged in ? or u may not be getting ac.
next u truly cannot test the low voltage secondary of that series where u want
as that large molex plug u see there 12 pin i think confiquires your ac voltage 120/220
the 2 black jumpers, plus it carry your low voltage to the voltage requlater board if u have 1
(power supply for lack of better terms)
this is 1 of the reason u cannot measure what u want
u are in the wrong spot to do it

Thanks - appreciate the help, but I'm struggling a bit with that explanation.

I think i've identified the wires that run to the monitor, the power supply, the light fixture, the coin door, etc.

No monitor is setup or plugged in - nothing is plugged in. I am just plugging in the main transformer and trying to read to the voltage to confirm I'm hooking things up properly before I fry something - because the wiring was manipulated due to a conversion of some sort.

So when you say I'm measuring at the wrong place, can you explain? Where should I be measuring?

Thanks

That is not the original power supply. The original would have used the lower voltages coming from that transformer. Someone put a switching power supply in its place. If it is a Smash TV cabinet then the manual should have the information you need.

Yes, I've seen some other Smash TV wiring setups and noticed that my 'transformer' wasn't the same, but I guess moved forward assuming that someone had been using it with the game.

Is it possible to still use this transformer or do I need to get an original Smash TV transformer? Can it be rewired to the Smash TV schematics and still work?

Thanks
