Hi, I am so happy to be part this wonderful website.
I have been repairing Japanese pachislo slot machines for months now.
I recently acquired a gorgeous Bally's 1088-2 quarter slot machine.
The unit is in great shape!
The reels spins and all lights work.
The problem with the unit is that it's stuck in "Tilt" mode. The tilt light is on all the time. So it doesn't pay out.

I'm looking for help fixing or bypassing the tilt sensor. I have not trouble shooted it as it seems a little more complex than the pachislo machines I'm used to, lol.

I've attached photos of the beauty.

Have you found where the tilt switch is? It's possible that it could be stuck closed or shorted somehow. There also might be multiple, I don't know much about slots though.

No I haven't found a tilt switch.
ive located a bent capacitor and a broken leaf from a switch, I've ordered parts, not sure if that what is causing tilt?

A few things that could cause a tilt state depending on model.

1. The hopper did not have enough coins to finish a payout from a previous win (load with coins and shut the door to finish payout)

2. The hopper may have either/or a weighted switch that is activated by the weight of the coins in a loaded hopper and/or a contact in the bottom of the inside of the hopper and one on top that completes a circuit with the coins loaded inside so it know the hopper is ready (load with coins)

3. If you take the hopper out you may find a reset switch with an amber light next to it located behind the hopper on the back wall. Normally if that switch is present there is a metal slide under the hopper to reset it.

Thank you for your reply.

1. I've added coins to the unit to see if it was stuck on a payout, and no movement from hopper. I haven't heard any life from the hopper since I bought the unit.

2. I've read and heard about the "full" hopper theory. Although I've a lot a lot of coins, my goal this week is to exchange $200 in quarters and see if that does anything... I've read about the weight being a sensor in the hopper, but regarding the completed circuit idea, that also makes total sense! I will hit up some banks this week to fill up the hopper, fingers crossed!

3. There is a reset bar under the hopper that travels to the reset switch/ next to a amber light (that is not on). I've pressed the many times and the Tilt light is still on.

You can wedge a business card to depress the microswitch if it is a weighted hopper and/or run a jumper wire from the contact inside bottom of the hopper to the upper metal tab to fool it into thinking it is full.

Thanks for the advance, looks like my hopper has a switch on the bottom on it. I've wedge it and closed the door and latched it, played several games and the tilt did not go away 🙁

Looks like you posted the identical posting at newlifegames so I think you're in good hands over there. Good luck getting it up and running.
I've posted in several forums, looking for help. Not many people own or have worked in this model though. As far as the usual trouble shooting;
.Follow tilt light wires to source.
.Press cherry switch on door.
.Press timer reset bar under hopper.
.Trigger weight on hopper for payout.
.Play many games in hope it goes away.
I've done those with no luck.
