Help tightening up a sloppy Galaga 2 way joystick

I am new to the forum and also just started collecting vintage arcade parts, complete control panels to swap out of a Mame/Retropie cabinet setup for authentic control physics/mechanics for select games.
Nothing beats that beefy metal bracket structure and leaf switches on classics like Galaga/Galaxian and the Pacs and Bosconians of the world.

Obtained a complete original Galaga control panel today. Generally looks good and complete, with loose stick of course.

Bushings and holes in bracket look tight and round, not oval.

The looseness is due to the stick hub on the (Pivot bracket, hub, bearing assy), part (6) on page 28

The hub is the vertical cylinder in the middle of the bracket. It appears attached (welded/brazed?) to the pivot bracket from the factory, but mine is unattached and loose on the stick shaft, trapped between the shaft e-ring (2) and the undersurface of the pivot bracket.

I don't think any adhesive would do the trick binding the loose hub back to the pivot bracket, unless there are suggestions. Solder probably wouldn't be strong enough either.
Besides, the parts have surface rust/corrosion that should be removed/cleaned, so I know I'll be disassembling the joystick assy.

Also need a new follower plate (3)
Bumpers (5) could probably be replaced or renewed (boil?) too
