My Taxi drop targets are not working I tried the cleaning the optos the voltage is good they work in test mode but during game play nothng they just stay down any suggestions? Also brand new rottondog mpu.

My Taxi did that and it was a bad connection at the plug on the circuit board.Mine would work in test mode but would not reset in game play.It was just the center drop target bank.

Hi which connection is it, I checked them all but I think that is the problem too because they really do nothing at all ( both mine pinbot and lola ) but in test mode they both pop but the voltage is there at the opto boards so it must be the other wires on the connector? at the mpu board.

When you say they work in test mode, do they work in switch test mode, or are you saying that they reset when you test the solenoids?

Put the machine in switch test mode with the drop targets reset and
drop them one at a time. It should see the switch made with the target down.

Well I did the switch test and not one of them registers and I did them one at a time I was told to check the transmitter just look through a digital camera and it would lite up purple? Well none of them lite up any color for that matter so I really think it is the opto boards. A lot of people when I do research are saying usually not all 6 would be out but keep in mind that the game had been seriously neglected so at any rate I ordered new opto boards we will see how that works thanks for the help.

Check your IDC connector and header pins in the backbox for that connector. Off the top of my head I don't remember the number, but it's on the lower left hand side of the board. Check your manual. Mine were acting flaky, sometimes registering, sometimes not, turned out to be a bad IDC connector.

I had the same problem with my Taxi when I first bought it.

Check the solder joints of the header pins on the opto board and reflow the soldering.

9 times out of ten, those opto board header pins have cold solder joints. Especially the Marilyn/Lola targets since they take pretty hard hits.

Well I already ordered new ones hopefully that fixes it. The solder pins looked really good I did not re flow them though but thanks for all the help I will let ya know when I get the new boards.

Well I got the new opto boards and when installing them I noticed on the lola one someone had tried a repair at some point and pinched a wire grounding it out so I find that after I ordered $100 worth of new opto boards ( mind you I was working on the pinbot side not the lola side the whole time I should have looked at the lola side since the wires are linked together ) any way I fixed the wire problem and the old opto's both did not work at all So I needed the new ones anyway I imagine the grounded wire blew the 2 opto boards. So pretty wild but that was the problem works fine now thanks again for the help everyone.
