I say that the trackball should control the cursor. Up means up, right means right.

Someone else stated that they remember the up on the trackball means down on the cursor, but right is still right.

Input?

The only game like that is Looping, and that's a joystick, not a trackball. Up moves your plane down, and down moves it up.

On a personal computer however, using a trackball along with the left mouse button, dragging down a scroll bar moving the trackball down would cause the text to scroll UP.

Up is up. Never played a Centipede (or any trackball game for that matter) any other way.

I suppose its possible to swap wires on an axis and make it play that way, but why? The only games that should play that way are flight simulators and games like Starfox (SNES), but then your talking about joysticks and controllers, not trackballs.

I agree 100%.

Just trying to tell him what the "correct" way is. He remembers something different. Drugs weren't just for the 60's I guess...

Playing Centipede where up is down and down is up would put a whole new spin on the game ....... and a lot lower scores! :)

yeah whoever says otherwise was playing with a messed up trackball.

I would say that is crazy, except today I plugged in a Centipede that I just picked up and the trackball is up is down and down is up. Left and right are fine. I'm guessing someone switched it, but this centipede is reversed. I am going to switch it to up is up next time i'm in the garage.

You are correct and the person who disagrees with you is a stupid stupid man

When I bought my Looping. (have not played one in 20 or so years) The game starts, I push up on the stick to take off and crash, straight down the plane goes. It was one of those oh yeah moments.

Looping oriented like a plane...you pull back on the stick to lift... as everyone else has said here... Centipede should be up = up.

Yeah, been there. I briefly contemplated swapping the joystick wires....it would piss me off so much.
