Below is a link to the "Help Save The Arcades" contest put on by Stride gum. This contest is put on to help save a few of the remaining arcades that are left in the country with the winner getting $25K to keep there arcade open.
I know the owner of StarBase which is one of the arcades in the contest. His arcade has lot of old games in it still and some quality pins, like Theater of Magic, Addams, Star Trek next gen, etc which you rarely see in the wild and when/if you do there beat. His games/pins are all in exc working condition. He is way old school and has been in the business for YEARS. I am 40 and he had his arcade back when I was 12. He is not all about the money and his arcade has just barely been breaking even for years and with the economy how it is now its losing money. He fixes games, does house calls, answers questions over the phone, and is just a real good person in general. Please take a second to check out the link and if you could play the game and donate points to " STARBASE " in San Rafael CA that would really help him and everyone else that loves his arcade out. The other arcade that is in first place is packed with new games and doesn't have any old school games in the place, I am pretty sure it doesn't have any old school pins either. Below is a link to the contest and his arcade.
Thanks

NorCal KLOV alert: Save Starbase Arcade

As a NorCal gamer and occasional visitor to Starbase, I've been putting in an hour or two a day on behalf of Starbase since this thing began.

The game is your standard 8-bit side-scroller, really easy to figure out, so just put on your favorite music, and fire away.

The most important things to keep in mind if you're going to grind seriously on behalf of any of the competitors in the contest are as follows:

1) No confirmation email is required; any email will do. Both Starbase and Arcade UFO have accounts they recommend.

2) Don't press (P)lay again after each game. Press (D)onate points, enter the CAPTCHA, and donate the points, and restart the game. Otherwise, there may still be a bug which may cause your points to be lost (!).

3) Of the four characters you can use, I've gotten the most points per hour out of Marsupataur - the boxing glove weapon works for me as both an offensive and defensive weapon. The Game Galaxy (Nashville, TN) website has information on each game character, but play a few rounds with each to see which nets you the most points per hour.

The spread between Starbase Arcade and Arcade UFO has gotten very close (from 20-30M to within 3-5M) in recent days; both arcades have dedicated groups of fans, there are still two weeks to go, and I think this contest is going to come down to the wire.

Hey right on thanks for the info and support. I have been playing it a lot as well, I really need to get a joystick and the auto fire

5 days to go.

Currently 564 to 560M, with Starbase ahead by a nose. That margin could be erased (or doubled!) by a single player grinding for a single afternoon/evening shift. Or by a small LAN party taking an hour out of the schedule for beer-and-grinding.

"Grind men, for the love of God, grind!"

Re:

That is cool, what if you don't have an arcade, do I still get 25,000?
