Guys,

I need your help. Not sure if this is a board issue with the pcb or if it's a monitor issue. I've already replaced all the caps on the monitor. If you can see in the attached picture, you can see the game but very faint. It's a Donkey Kong two board set. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Guys,

Thanks for the suggestions. I made a few changes on the fly back and this is what I'm getting now. Any suggestions?

Ok. So I think I've turned every knob that can possibly be turned. It's a little better but still not right. Any other suggestions?

Guys,

I adjusted the horizontal hold both ways and I'm still getting the same results with everything being wavy. Do any of you think it could be the actual video board on Donkey Kong? Also, I've noticed the longer the monitor stays on the worse the picture gets.

Reflow your input headers and make sure theyre getting a good connection. Check the wires etc.

Check VR1 and VR2 on your game PCB. If adjusting doesn't help, it's worth replacing those pots because they can get bent and cracked. Also, replacing the pots on your remote board can't hurt either.

One other quick suggestion: it looks like you're getting rescan lines in your image. After you figure out your stability issue, I'd turn down the brightness on your flyback a bit more, until those lines go away. You can then use the brightness knob on the remote board to bring it up to a good level.

Guys,

I took the board out and checked over things. This is the best that I have gotten it. Any reason why I would be getting a mirror image? I did measure out b+ and I'm only getting 100 volts. So it's a mirror Image with it upside down. I confirmed the dip switch for H is correct.

I cant make out that screen burn. What is that? I bet one (or both) of the yoke connections is turned 180 degress, look at the 4 pin yoke header right behind the flyback. WITH THE POWER OFF pull off the green and yellow connection, rotate 180 degress and put it back. Power it back on and see if your text is correct. If not put the connector back the way it was and rotate red and blue.

As far as the messed up pic, looks like you are missing signal ground to me. Its either not coming from the game board, the signal harness is messed up, or some one plugged that monitor into an un isolated outlet at some point in its life, connected it and the ground trace from the signal header blew open on the monitor.

Thanks for the tip. I was able to turn the yoke connectors 180 degrees and my picture is at least upside. Now I'm getting the wavey picture again. I've tested my B+ and I'm getting 107.5. Would that be enough to cause the issue? The longer the game stays on the worse the picture gets.

that b+ level would not be enough to cause that problem. Lack of video ground would be though.

wait, where do you have the monitor plugged in? In the socket inside the cabinet or into a power strip or something?

And take another pic of that screen burn with the monitor off. I cant make it out and its driving me nuts.
