Greetings all,

May I ask you to give me a hand in trying to identify a couple of games I found while watching different Spanish movies. I've uploaded the exact excerpts in which the arcades are shown, and you can find them here:

http://usuaris.tinet.org/deusx/sinatra.rar
http://usuaris.tinet.org/deusx/cronica.rar

The first one belongs to a 1988 film named 'Sinatra'. Only a few frames of the arcade can be seen (game and record table).
The second one is taken from the film 'Cronica sentimental en rojo' (1986). Sadly the screen cannot be seen at all, except for a tiny and brief scroll. But it's possible to pay attention to the background sound in order to recognize the game it's being played.

By the way, probably both cabinets and marquees are not the original ones, so I'm afraid you won't find any extra clues with them...

Any help will be really much appreciated!
Thank you in advance.

Hello and welcome,

Is there a way for you to just grab a picture of them and post it here? That way members don't have to open strange files to thier computer? I'd like to try helping, but my computer barks at me when I try opening files from an unknown source.

The marquee on the first one appears to read "TV Sports"

The marquee on the second one appears to read "Meteoritos" (Spanish for "meteorites").

I can get no meaningful information from the screen in a snapshot, but it appears to have more white area (it is black and white) than a vector game like Asteroids.

The sound doesn't help me either, but I suspect it is not coming from the machine, but is artificially created effects for the movie's audio.

The crewball is really really good here at eyeballing cabs, but we're probably going to need a little bit more to go on with these.

Hi again,

The two files I linked are .mov files which I uploaded to my own server, so there should be no risk in downloading them. I understand other users may feel distrustful about someone who has just joined the forums, although that was not my intention for obvious reasons (I do sincerely have an interest in finding out the name of these two machines -and others!).

The reason to suggest to use a short video file instead of just pictures is that in some occasions the video would allow to see the game in motion (or listen to its sound, as it happened in the second example). So in the next hours I'll be uploading those excerpts to youtube and link them here afterwards if it is ok with the forums rules. Meanwhile, here are two pictures of the 'Sinatra' film. As Weehawk suggested in his post, the marquee shows 'TV-Sports', which used to be a generic marquee placed on some unofficial arcade games in Spain at the time. As for the game screenshot, it looks to me like a 'Dig-Dug' / 'Bagman' style game when first seen...

Thank you again.

pd. for the last months I've been doing a long research of any kind of arcade presence in Spanish films (including mostly classic arcade, but also 8/16 bit computers), which so far it can be seen here:

I add some more of these entries from time to time, and there still are lots to be shown; but as usual, some are very difficult for me to recognize. Hence my request for help. :)
