HELP! Never used a Multimeter before...

Until a fuse has failed, it will look electrically like a short circuit between the two ends. You can verify this by setting your meter to resistance mode and checking for approximately 0 ohms between the ends of the fuse. Or if your meter has a continuity mode, it should beep when you place the leads on the ends of the fuse.

I bought a multimeter to check fuses on Q*Bert...

I've never used a Multimeter before. how do I set it to check Fuses (7-10AMP / 250Volt). What am I looking for to make sure that the fuses are good or bad?

Thanks, I really need the help!

This meter has diode test ( looks something like this >l )
Set the selector to diode test
Remove fuse from circuit
Black lead on one end of fuse
Red lead on other end of fuse

Meter should make a tone (beep) sound if fuse is good, should also show 0 on the meter.

If the fuse is bad, no tone and numbers or 1 on the meter.

Read continuity of your manual. Put one lead on one end of the fuse and the other lead on the other end if you hear a beep the fuse is good.

Make sure you have the 3 AAA batteries installed in the unit.

From the 'off' position, turn the selector dial 3 clicks to the right to the continuity setting. The dial selector should be at the 12 o clock position. The picture on the meter looks like this:

Once in that mode, put either ends of your leads on both sides of the fuse. If the meter beeps, you're good. No beeps = bad.

Make sure you do your test with the leads on the fuse CLIPS with the fuse installed, to rule out a bad connection between the fuse and the clips.
