Forgive me if I am posting in the wrong forum as I don't do this frequently. I am interested in purchasing an upright arcade game. I came across their website. They have great ebay feedback but I have also seen some less than stellar posts about them online. Can anyone give me feedback here with regard to customer service and competence?

Thanks
John

Dale is a retail business and this forum caters to a bunch of cheap bastards - of which I am one. Sometimes those clash so take some of the opinions here with a grain of salt.

I've bought boards from Dale to repair/resell, my son has bought a bartop cabinet from him as a father/son project to rebuild, and I've done board repairs for him. I'm also in the middle of a trade on repairing Galaga boards (and I'm behind on getting those done...)

I've never had any issues in dealing with Dale.

Being a retailer does put him in a different price range than what most of the members here are willing to pay, but he will warranty his games.

RJ,

Fanstatic! Thanks. That's kind of what I wanted to hear. I'd like to be a cheap bastard like a lot of you (haha) but I don't have enough experience and knowledge with this stuff to go the cheap route. I'd sort of rather pay a bit of a premium and get what I am looking for. What is with the first! second! ???

Maybe I'll attempt to contact Dale tomorrow. He sounds like a nice guy from reading some posts but not sure if he may act like that up front in order to make a sale or he's like that through and through.

Thanks.
John

There are some heated threads on the forum where Dale has butted heads with forum members in the past. He goes by 'rlevin' here.

We have active (and this is an ongoing forum joke) members here who we call the "price police" who post threads and stir up drama on topics... one such topic was around some of the eBay auctions that Dale did such as some very pricey games - one of which was a prototype... and one that was a huge auction for a slew of cabinets.

Just wait until you start a thread about TNT (Todd - another retailer) and his burning cabinets videos or pushing empty cabs off the roof of his building videos and see the responses you get there. ;)

Dale's wars of words with Gordonfan (another member here) are stuff of legends with bans being tossed around.

Channelmanic,

Understandable. Thanks again. I figured as much as I have spent time on other boards in other hobbies.

If you look at for sale threads here you can find good, working, well-maintained games for sale all around the country at pretty good prices. If you have problems with the game down the road, people here are always willing to help. Even if you can't fix or do something by yourself, there's also a good chance that someone lives near you that can. If money isn't an object then buy retail- but you can find games here just as good or better. I'm not knocking the guy at all- but I was in the same boat as you when I bought my first partially working game. The knowhow here really helped.

We also have a feedback section here and you can easily search just that forum section for "rlevin" or "chattanooga pinball" by doing an advanced search.

RJ,

Thanks again. I'll check it out. Maybe get some insight into other sellers here in the Southeast.

I've done several deals with rlevin.

I'd only have positive things to say.

If you show up to buy a game from him and he is in his Batman underwear costume...you deserve a discount.
