Monitor has a perfect picture but absolutely no sound. Sound pot isn't doing anything.

Have an event this Tuesday, trying ro get it squared away before then, don't wanna disappoint the kids.

Also I didn't mention , I did swap out the sound board with a known good one from my DK Junior and same zero sound.nada...

It sounds like you have a problem with the sound amp on the monitor. If it hasn't been recapped, it is time to do so. If it has been capped and it isn't working, verify that the fusible resistor on the amp isn't open. If that tests as open, then replace the two transistors on the heat sink as one of those is probably bad.

So I swapped another monitor in from my vs. Duck Hunt and sound worked fine BUT

I powered down to change marquee bulb and when I turned it back on the image was upside down and no sound !!!

What the heck.... I didn't change anything.

Reseat the AY-8910 on the game pcb. It is responsible for audio, controls, and screen flipping.

I don't know what it is specifically about popeye but I always seem to have problems with sockets on those game boards.

I reseated everything and that did it. All the board chips and the cage connectors.

Thanks.

I didn't see any chips on my Popeye board that said ay-8910
