OK. Im sorry for another dumbass question.
But,.this damn MK is pissing me off.
I got a big box of pcb today,.and one of them was a MK (which i needed because my other had failed ROMS.
I plugged the new one in,.and perfect. NO FAILED ROMS. Unlike the other board which had no sound,.this one DID.
The reds the other MK pcb was lacking,.this one had,.it was beautiful. I almost cried.
I go to plug in the kick connector (whatever plug goes on those pins near the jamma connector) and realize the DAMN THING IS MISSING 2 PINS!!
So i plug it in where it should go anyway (im a noob,..cmon)...and sure enough,.neither player has the LOWER PUNCH OR LOWER KICK.
So,..i put the old shitty pcb (with the newer sound board) and my sound is great,.but the shitty pcb still lacks RED of course,.and still has failed ROMS.
THE PROBLEM IS...for whatever reason,.i have no LOW KICK ONLY ON PLAYER 2.
JUST THAT ONE BUTTON.
AND,.when i reach my hand inside the coin box to pop open the CP,.i get shocked in there.
CONSTANTLY. it feels like im rubbing my arm against or into a needle,.sharp zap pin like pain.
When i go into TEST MODE,.and go to test the buttons on the CP,.everything works but player 2's lower kick,.and when i jiggle the wiring coming from the CP to the board,.i hear static,.or something....maybe i hear player 2's lower kick button on the test mode.,.
i dont know.
BUT THE BUTTON WORKED FINE before i started testing pcb in there,.
WHAT DID I DO??
help.

I don't know much about this stuff. But maybe the Earth Ground came loose somewhere.

I agree, there's most likely a bad ground somewhere, I have a cab that does the same thing, although I never noticed it until I went out barefoot and decided to play a game. The damn coindoor shocked me the exact same way. Anyway, as far as mine goes, the previous owner chopped the round ground pin off of the plug so it's not grounded. I'm sure you have a similar problem.

Are the missing pins broken off?
If so you will have to replace the pins to get your kicks back.
As for getting shocked, did it just start this?
Did you just replace the AC cord or put a replacement plug on the end of the old cord?
If so the Hot and Neutral may be reversed or could be a loose or missing earth ground.

im thinking the ground because i havnt messed with anything,
The pins are broken of on the "good" MK board.
On the "bad rom" board,.(which im having the trouble with) the pins are all there!
and as of 5 mins before i swapped to test the 2nd MK,.it all worked.
I would say maybe the good boards pins broke off into the plug plug,.but i didnt plug it in! i noticed before plug in that the pins were absent,.so i plugged it up anyway to try.
When i put the originalk board back,.i have no kick.
Now,.i opened the CP to make sure the buttons were all good (i was also having probs with PLAYER 2 START BUTTON) and noticed the P2 start button ground keeps coming off,.so i fixed that,.but the kick button looks plugged up and good.
Im so confused.

major safety issue here.

i would start by unplugging the game from the mains, and with a multimeter check continutiy between the ground pin on your mains plug, throough to any metal objects (ie coin door, monitor frame etc) - if you have no continuity, then broken earth wire or missing earth pin or faulty earth in power point wiring.

check that any mains wiring is not exposed and is insulated all the way from the mains plug (no frayed or damaged mains cable), throough the on/off switch, cabinet safety interlock switches, power supply and the monitor

trace all earthing wires from the mains earth pin to any metal parts and clean up all connections, making sure they are clean, and good and tight.

also strongly suggest get one of the mains test devices (plug it in and check the indicator lights) to see if the power point has a good ground. any faults indicated, get a sparky to repair power point first.

if you have checked that the mains earth is now correctly connected, good joints etc, and continuity is good to any metals parts, and that the power point has a good earth, then plug back in and retest.

you can also us the multimeter on volts setting (ac ?) and check for a voltage difference between the mains earth at the point it comes into the game, and at the coin door. if >0 volts, you have an issue! check/clean/tighten, measure and repeat until sorted.

once you sort out mains earth and live wire issues, should be no shocks.

if you are not confident or sure, get a sparky to give it a safety check for you and repair. not worth getting electrocuted for the sake of a few dollars.

sparky?

LOL. wow. You sound educated.
I have a screw driver and a hammer.
What is a sparky?
Im trying meet a buddy/tech who can show me some stuff.
So..would you recommend i unplug AND LEAVE ALONE COMPLETELY until someone comes to fix it?
This may be another dumb Q,.but how many volts are capable here? Are we talking minor shocks like this,.or can something REALLY BAD happen?

caution is always the better part of valour if youre not sure how to fix an issue, particularly if there are kids around! where mains are concerned the personal risks are high if you are not aware of the risks of have faulty equipment plugged in and turned on, or of type of precautions you should take if working on live or plugged in equipment. for example, have a look at this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_shock better to be informed and cautious than flat on your back!

there is however a good deal of satisfaction to be had in fixing something yourself. fixing it it may be something as simple as cleaning up the mains earth connections to the metal parts (ie mains plug, power supply, coin doors, monitor frame etc) - sounds like you may need a few more tools thoough - but if you have a tech buddy to learn from, then take some closeup pics of the insides of the cab to show him the mains wiring from the power point, to the power supply, internal mains wiring and any wiring connections to the coin door frame etc as well so he can point out areas to look at.

he can prob help you get yourself together a simple cheap toolkit with some pliers, wire cutters, soldering iron etc to help you work on your game. there are very low cost multimeters around so he could show you how to use that too, and include some of the small wire brushes (about an inch long, from an auto shop) for cleaning connections etc.

just to reiterate, if you're not sure, better to get someone in the know to show you first!
