I just picked up my first trackball game in my collection; Missile Command. Very excited and can't wait to have fun with it.

Bought trackball kit ahead of time and I am ready to install it and wanted to see if someone would be kind enough to offer the best lubrication process/product for the bearings. Little insecure with the trackball and not sure if it is as simple as joysticks. In KLOV search I saw a wide variety of methods, products and opinions.

Any updated guidance is appreciated!

Mike

Just use a couple drops of light viscosity oil (3 in 1) on the open bearings and install your parts. Don't oil anywhere else or it'll be all over your trackball

I never used any extra lube when I rebuilt my MC trackball and it rolls silky smooooth. The bearings should roll freely, you might just have to break them in a little...

I'll agree with this as well however, the bearings will pit, corrode, wear and rust out faster with nothing on em at all. The bearing assemblies do come lubed already but you lose alot of it during handling/install so a couple drops isn't gonna hurt. The manual and the original sticker on the trackball unit even tells ya to occasionally give em a squirt.
