HELP! Megatouch 15" Tatung monitor replacement

Hey guy's i need some help .
I have a megatouch force radion with a tatung 15" crt monitor that has gone Dark on me.
now i spoke with david from the megatouch store and aske if i could use a regular pc monitor to replace the one inside my cabinet, he said it would have to be flat screen wich i managed to find. Now the problem i have is one of ignorance ! when swapping the new monitor do i have to replcae all the parts from the megatouch with the ones from the new CRT parts IE: (motherboard and tube card) or can i just swapp the tubes ? this is something i am not aware of and would love to find out. i have been looking on the net for three days now and found nothing on this matter.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
you can reply to [email protected] of you all wish so .

Thx
K.L

The tube itself is most likely not the problem. It's probably the chassis that is bad.

Now - your option would be getting the chassis fixed, or replacing the entire monitor (tube, chassis, everything) if your board is outputting VGA. The problem comes in getting the new monitor to be touchscreen. It's not easy to remove the touchscreen from the old tube and move it to the new tube (very easy to break it when trying to remove it - just a little pressure can crack it), so you may need to buy a new touchscreen glass and mount it on your new tube.

Also, even though it says 15", are you sure it's not 13"? Some monitors are labeled the Japanese way (measured from outside edge of the tube to outside edge diagonally) and others are measured the American way (viewable area). I'm not sure which cab your's is in, but I don't recall the Tatung tubes being flat...

mod is right, the two Radions I have use normal curved tubes. Remounting the touchscreen is a tricky job. There are tape kits available from dealers. Use something like dental floss or monofilament to cut through the doublesided foam tape that holds the screen to the tube. These pieces need to be replaced with doubled up strips to keep the touchscreen from touching the center of the tube. Replacing the fabric tape that holds the wiring around the edges is a tricky job. Then the gaps around the edge of the touchscreen have to be taped over to make an airtight seal between the screen and the tube. Otherwise dust is going to be attracted to the tube and you will soon be doing the job over.
