FOR ARCADE STUFF!!

So I got a whole load of amex cards from work (long story) and am trying to figure out how the heck to spend them on arcade stuff...Obviously craigslist posters will think its a scam if I email back with "yes, I'd like your pinball machine but I need to pay you in AMEX gift cards"

And you cant really use them online I dont think...Any ideas?

The Visa (rebate) giftcards I got from Verizon have a specific clause in the use instructions that indicate I can get "cash back" when using one and that Visa partners MUST allow me to do it.....

Go to Walgreens, buy a pack of gum, then cash those turds out! (if you are allowed)

You'll get hit with a fee, but you can do a "cash advance" on the cards. That way you can convert to cash and get the pin of your dreams.

glad to see you are in ma if you were in md i would have to wonder if you got the cards from our mayor... :)

Buy stuff from a place that accepts Amex cards...

...not sure if Arcadeshop or mikesarcade or any other "professional" vendor takes Amex, but you can check. If they do, they should take the gift card... from their perspective it's the very same thing.

Many of those cards disallow cash advance. Read the fine print.

I used my gift card last year online. I bought $75 worth of electrical supplies. now I have over 500 3/16" QD's. :D

A year or so back when I had about $2600 in those gift cards, I went to costco bought a laptop computer. Went home, came back and got a refund... IN CASH.

They wanted to put the money back on my amex, but I don't have one, it was gift cards.
So they offered me a costco gift card, and I said no effing way. So they said "we are going to have to give you cash then"

classic. Thanks

Most likely not, as there is no zip code or address associated with the card. It will proably come back as declined.

VISA/MC/AMEX gift cards are used exactly like their regular credit card cousins. Anyone who takes these cards normally will take a gift card. Of course when they're out of dough, they're out of dough.

Funny... I charge dozens of cards a week and I never input a zip code... and we use PAYPAL as out authorization service (used to be authorize.net but Paypal bought them out). I assume you could set up an account to REQUIRE a zip though... and who knows what Paypal.com (the normal service) requires.... they tend to be as much of a pain in the ass as possible. Plus...when you attach a credit card to them, you have to report back a $1.35 charge they issue to the card (for verification purposes)... I don't know if you can get a print out of charges to a gift card like you can a credit card?!
