I picked up a Konami Racing Jam yesterday with known monitor issues. I bought it from a fellow KLOV'er who informed me that it had monitor issues, so this is NOT a thread about a bad seller. I knew what I was getting before I paid for it.

That said...

The monitor in the game displayed very, very faint gibberish that was almost like static. I removed the chassis, and found this chassis:

Connected to this tube:

With this yoke:

I have verified that this chassis is for a K7400 25" monitor. Is there any possible way this chassis ever worked with the above tube/yoke?
The seller told me the game once functioned with this monitor hardware. Is there any way this can be made to function with this game?

Sounds to me more like a board issue than a monitor issue.
Just trying to pick my own brain.... something tells me now that I've thought a bit that the 7500 chassis' use a different yoke than the 7400s do.
Besides the 7401 is a 25" standard res chassis and the tube for the 7502 (med res) is a 27".
You 'may' get a picture but I'm not sure if the 7400 chassis will like that yoke for very long.

i have a racing jam...when you first turn it on, the whole screen has little squares all over it that looks like it's messed up....let it run for a minute and it should cycle through that...after that it then goes in to the rom test screen, then the pedal/steering test mode

Yes, I can get the game to function (sorta) with my computer's LCD monitor installed. It does exactly what you described....colorful jibberish....then rom test....then game.

The only problem with the computer monitor is that it displays a "THIS RESOLUTION NOT SUPPORTED" error in the center of the screen....but it still displays the game behind that error.

you have a wells gardner 27" tube and a wells gardner 25" med res chassis. possibly if someone switched the yoke on the tube to match the correct frequencies, they might work together. otherwise no. if they did work as the seller stated, then the yoke has been switched to something that works with the 2574 chassis. seems to me like to horizontal output will be screwed up without the right yoke and will burn out in a short time. i need a pcb for one of these games or someone who can repair mine. i have a problem with the accelerator and it's not the pot. so, i guess i have a board issue.
i hope my reply helped.

Well, let me correct something and expand on the info.

Yes, the frame came from a 27" K7500 med res tube, but the chassis is a 25" STANDARD-RES K7400 chassis.

And I can tell you from experience that the yoke # is for a K7500 chassis (med-res). I don't know if it ever was used with the K7400's.

If the tube is a 27", then it seems the chassis is mismatched with the tube.

To the casual observer, the K7500 and K7400 chassis look almost identical, so it's possible he grabbed a chassis that he THOUGHT went with that tube when he sold it, and just grabbed the wrong one...
