ok, heres a taito cab i got.
its been wired jamma, but still has the old ps (not a switcher)
the old ps doesnt work and i really want to rewire this...
i believe i have everything else right...
the transformer has a molex connector that needs to be stripped and put on the power switcher.
the transformer is black from use and has no writing left on it.
but does have colored wires coming from the transformer

my ???? is this...are these wires color coordinated to jamma??? (they seem to be the same colors as the wires going to the ps)
which wire goes to what on this new switcher????
any help would really be appreciated...or ill have to sell this cab or mame it and i dont want to do that..
im actually most likely gonna put this back to a taito after i get it running (ill just use an adapter and leave it jamma)

as u see from the pics i have the harness hooked to the ps but not the transformer, so no power yet ;) 5th pic of the supply that was in it )connectors dont even connect)

THANKS!!!!

You only need to power the switcher with the 110vac that should be coming into the cab and going into a filter (a silver box) then the wires go to fuses first the marque, power supply (switcher) and isolation transformer for the monitor. The regulator board (the black metal thing with the bottle cap looking things on it) is missing another board for the rectifier I believe.

EDIT:

Do NOT hook the wires coming from the transformer to the jamma harness AT ALL.

The switcher look like it is hooked up right and only needs the ac inputs at the bottom of that supply. That is where the 110vac goes into the switcher.

The original supply looks like it is missing a board and don't think I would use it at this point in the game.

thanks for you reply much appreciate it ;)
which silver box there are 3...???
are u meaning the 1st intake box that has the cord and fuse and the power cord somehow hooks to the ps???
thanks again never did this, and this is beyond me but really want to be taught this,...
the transformer doesnt get wired to the ps then? and do i need to do anything with those that are coming off that molex connector?

I cant really follow the wires coming from the box on the left but I don't think I would use it. I would get a power cord and plug into the outlet on the silver box on the other side. Measure with your volt meter at about 200 vac if your meter is not auto ranging and you should see about 120vac. If so then, WITH POWER OFF AND UNPLUGGED, connect a 3 prong power cord to the switcher power supply the two ac lines go to the bottom connectors and ground goes to the one labeled fg (field ground) it should be the next one up from the ac inputs. Then plug the power cord into that outlet and test the voltages at the output of the switcher first then the jamma connector. The voltages should be about ball park and if so check the jamma connector for proper voltages BEFORE you hook up the pcb you are testing/running.

EDIT:

It looks like a fuse holder has been added to the yellow +12 vdc line and I don't see a fuse in that. I don't really like that because that is just floating in there and can short to something like the pcb that takes +5 and kill it. That fuse holder need to be screwed down or at the very least secured to something. I can be eliminated but there must have been a reason it was put in.

thanks so much for the info, i think i can do this no problem ;)
the pic was taken before the fuses got put in...
i have a 3 amp on the 12v line & a 1/2 amp on the 5 volt is this ok and what do u recommend.????

May I be the first one to say that this setup looks like ass.

Why don't you get in there with some compressed air or some Windex and a sponge?

Screw that switching supply down onto the bottom panel where the old linear supply board used to be.

I'd find some other place to tap into the AC for your switcher too. I'm pretty sure that the convenience outlet isn't switched, so it will be hot as long as the cabinet is plugged in.

i took the pic as soon as i got back and wired that sticking up to show for photo.
since been cleaned out and al tha good stuff ;) yes it looks like ass...thats why i bought it from the dude to get her all fixed up and living again ;) it stinks so was wiped out with some febreeze gain mr clean cleaner ;)
when i got to it...all the monitor brackets and marquee brackets were thrown inside and so was the coin door ;(...literally thrown in not set in nicely to avoid any wiring problems..
there is room in there to put the brackets in the corners but hey i got it for $50 with the cp populated and wired...so just have to do all ps wiring.
ill grab some pics of the cab and post em ;)
needs bondo on the bottom all the way around it..the light fixture was stupid never seen anything like it

ok i plugged it in and turned it on test that outlet and it does work ;)
was @121.3 a little hot but nothing else is hooked up at this point..
gonna go find a 3 prong plug at home depot today...the hook it up as u said and plus it in and test them voltages, i really appreciate your help!!!
if i get it to where it will boot a pcb ill stop there and start refurbing that cab!
even though the pcbs are expensive its screaming mutli taito!!!!!!!!!

looking good so far. As for the light, seriously looks to me like some op had WAY to many coin door lights laying around and when the starter for the florescent went out he just gutted everything for the florescent and wired those lights up lmao.

That's a standard Taito marquee setup. It runs off of 6.3v. If the original transformer setup is in there, there should be a 6.3v plug that runs to the marquee bulbs.

wow really???? goofy setup...lol but its what they did, my 1st taito cab ;)
thanks for all the info guys ;)

did what kj said got power to the ps now...initiall was @13.44 turned the knob down on the supply and its @ 12.23
and the 5 is @ 5.21
time to hook a pcb up and see if i get it to fire, then bondo bondo bondo :)

Amazingly, yep... that's how the marquees were. It's so shallow in there that you really can't do much with a standard flo. light... but you can probably get away with a couple cold cathode tubes in there powered off the 12V from the switcher? That's what I've been thinking about doing with mine... but just haven't gotten around to it yet.

well the wiring for the marquee was inside!!! plugged it in all lampd burnt out but 1, threw some white leds in em look nice and bright ;0
go to paint the coin door (hadnt looked at it yet)
see the sticker right inside
TAITO-JUNGLE HUNT!!!!
ive wanted 1 of these, so im gonna multi taito
or 761/1 as i think most of the taito are in it ;)
thoughts?

i just finished a qix...came out good using prok's stencils
