ok, i've been working for years in event production. one thing i've been doing for the last five or six years is stage managing a stage at a huge music and arts festival in Seattle every Labor Day weekend. the last two years i've brought along a cabaret (Space Demon one year and Asteroids the next.) i'm ready to move up to the next step and bring two full-sized cabs. the stage i manage is basically blues, folk, and roots rock so i'm not too worried about "rock stars" going ape on 'em. i have artists of all ages, some crew, and plenty of family and friends (including small children) who hang out backstage with me.

i've narrowed my top choices down to:

Ms. Pacman
Mario Bros (conversion)
Top Speed

i like Ms. Pac for the familiarity.
Mario Bros has a definite cool factor, especially with the NES generation.
Top Speed is a nice driving game, very easy for anyone to play.

i could also bring Scramble, Mr Do! (conversion,) Jrok multi-Williams (with Robotron, Joust, Bubbles and SPLAT!), Time Pilot, or Centipede, but each of these for one reason or another don't feel quite as right as my top choices.

as a side note, i'd bring my Asteroids cabaret again but i recently picked up and repaired an A.D. cocktail, and as long as i have one shorter cabinet in my van i can get that in as well.

of course, whichever game i don't bring this year i can probably bring next year, and as i have some of the same people who come back i don't mind mixing it up.

Ms pac and mario. Everyone knows them, everyone loves them. It would be easiest for people to be familiar with a game rather than just be like wtf is this??

The top 3 are great choices for the popular factor. I'm a big williams fan so i'd say the multi. And the 'pede should entertain the ladies right?! :p

If it's a music and arts festival, then pick a game with great music and wonderfully eclectic side art:

top speed is never the answer. No one will know what it is. I doubt it would get much play. If it was a pole position, then yes. Outrun yes, turbo yes..

you can't go wrong with ms pac. I assume your taking games from your klov list. I would go
1: ms pac
2: centipede
3: asteroids

if only... but i'm not about to acquire a Gyruss before the show (or anytime soon.) i do have the PCB around awaiting a multi-Konami that's in the works.

i was surprised at how much play it received at the NWPGRS by people of all ages. kids seemed to really dig it, which is why i was thinking of taking it along.

There's a Mario Bros at the arcade in Mt Vernon in a Radarscope cab and it looks mighty fine, although the green you talked about would be cool. - Barry

Yep, games I can remember off the top of my head - Centepede, DK, DKjr, Mario Bros, Playchoice 10, Popeye, Ms Pac, Tron, Frogger, a few pins and more I just can't remember. - Barry

Oh yeah, you take the college way exit, head east to the first light. Take a left, go past Safeway and drive to the end of the road. take a left and it's immediately on the left. It's in the back of a store called Docking Bay 93. I stop by there every now and again when I'm up that way. That's the place I started playing DK and it sucked me in to this black hole of arcade collecting goodness. dockingbay93.com is the website. - Barry
