Help me order the right parts for my Multi-Williams

I have never had a Williams cabinet so I am not sure what buttons are appropriate for a Multi-Williams. I have a wood control panel - it's a bubbles. I am going to fill the CP holes in with bondo and start over, right now it's swiss cheese (it was converted to a Combatribes) and right now it's full of one-piece micro-switches and micro switch bat type joysticks. Frizz was saying I need leaf switches but I am not sure which ones or where to get them from. How about colors?

I have two original/NOS red ball Wico leaf spring joysticks that I'll be installing. How about the lighted 1p and 2p like Frizzie Pie did? I like that. Hard to install? Where do I get power?

Any help and links to parts would be appreciated. I am a Williams NOOB. And, this cab I have has no original Williams parts so I have no point of reference. I need to get this thing going, I am sick of playing Robotron and Bubbles, I need more buttons!! :)

sick of playing robotron?!?!?! my god, man. i can dig it, though. joust is fun as well.

I know you said you have a set but...

I got a set of sticks from wu in joust colors for my multi...

http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=87022

They are not the 4 inch tall version only 3.5 which is fine in my book. My 4 inch red robotrons are just too much and make the multi feel off. I am not sure if he has more but they do rock!

Anyway I love the way they look. This should be an interesting thread!

I shouldn't really say that, I LOVE Robotron. It's the main reason I wanted to do a Multi-Williams. But, I'd like to give Stargate and Defender a whirl, I just need more buttons!

I just measured my Wico sticks and it's 3.5" from the BOTTOM of the ball to the tip of the shaft on the other end. So, are these 3.5" sticks? From the TOP of the ball to the bottom of the shaft it's about 5".

Are these sticks coo'?

Are these gonna work with the wooden control panel or should I be looking for longer sticks?

Hey John,
I'm pretty sure Bob Roberts has most of the parts you seek. I got a bunch of stuff from him for mine, including the button holders w/ leaves, buttons, etc... He also has some clear buttons, red, orange, green, yellow. No blue though like robotron had :(
Hope that helps man.

Oh yeah, and make sure you order the PAL nuts, they are ordered seperate.

(I forgot them on my order)

Bob Roberts? What should I be asking for?? I am not sure. Does he have the longer Wico shafts?

Because the buttons are different colors in different games, there is no set color pattern. I have seen set that use all white buttons that look very nice. I used different colors for each function.

Since I took this picture I have replaced the yellow and blue buttons (Joust flap buttons) with the correct yellow and blue buttons.

The player 1 & 2 start buttons are the translucent blue Robotron Buttons. They didn't show up well in the flash.

The joystick handles are the 4" ones. I like to play Robotron more than Stargate/Defender so 4" shafts are a must. The bases are original Wico 8 way leafs.

Supposedly Bob Roberts has the leaf switches that go with the buttons. So far I have managed to get by with recycling leaf switches.

Good luck. At least half the fun is finding the parts to make it look the way you want it to. If you need some translucent switches, I think I still have a few laying around. PM me and I'll go look.

Those are 3.5" shafts. Member Wu had some colored ones. I picked up a Joust Blue and some strange Purple 4" ones a while a go (I would have gotten Joust Yellow, but he was out :().

There have been several posted. One of these days, I'll get serious about getting rid of some of my overstock boards and parts and I'll be able to afford one of the repro bezels and marquees that were advertised here a couple of months ago. And get some of that red t-molding....

Well well... I do remember that one now! Sucks getting old man.

I wonder if the Sg's would look good as a multi with the factory red paint on the sides? Then just skip out on the decals...
