I have been on the lookout trying to buy a DK in nice original condition. Would love to have it in my collection. It's hard work finding one in the private sector what with being in Australia and needed it palleted and wrapped, so i thought i would try some of the retailers in the US.

Can anybody recommend some good quality companies to email/call that won't rip my arms off please. Google can only get me so far as some of the websites look like an abomination and probably flow down to the products and service they offer.

I would love someone in the California to save costs on shipping but willing to go further if it means a better buying experience.

Thanks.

Keep in mind that if you're trying to buy from an established retailer you will have to pay much much more. You'll pay probably $500-600 (U.S.) plus shipping for a solid, decent, working Donkey Kong purchased from a KLOV member. To get the same thing from a retailer you're probably going to have to pay $1000 or more. The only advantage to the retailer is that you may get some piece of mind, and a warranty (depending on the retailer).

If you're set on using a retailer, I would suggest Todd Tuckey at TandT Amusements. His company will recap the monitor, make sure everything is working correctly, and most likely install new reproduction bezel and control panel overlay, new T-Molding, a probably do some touch-up painting so that the game looks respectable. He offers technical assitance for 5 years and discounts on replacement parts.

The general sentiment here is that paying retail prices is probably pointless. Then again, most people here know their way around these games in one way or another, or know someone who does. If you're out on your own in Austrailia, have no technical knowledge, don't have time to learn, and just want a solid working game that you don't have to fiddle with, then I can see why you could justify spending the extra money. If you want to save and don't mind getting your hands dirty then I'd try to find someone here who will agree to ship overseas.

Thanks for the response. I totally agree about the retail price being pointless but wanted to see what sort of dollars they would go for. They are same here with pin prices, $1-2K more than buying off of collectors. The trouble is finding someone who is prepared, on KLOV, to do packing and palleting and help with shipping. May be i need to be more patient and someone will pop up :D

I do have some technical knowledge and definatley have guys here who know there stuff who can help out if needs be which is great.

Just wanted to see what others thought in relation to buying games. I'm sure one will turn into two into three just like my pins, do i stick to you guys here or retailers.

Anyone got any other recommendations when it comes to retailers as well?
