help me figure out how to convince my wife to let me keep a game

My favorite method is to try to have my wife actually see games I want to buy and tell her what I want to do with them. She gets so bored with it when I even mention a game that she says "whatever" and goes away. Try to act really excited like a kid, and she rolls her eyes in embarassment and walks away!

she's not concerned about the money, and space really isn't the issue. she's mad cause i told her i bought it with the intention to flip but really i want to keep it.
If space and money aren't the issue, what is? Does she have a problem with SI in general? Scared of the missile toting monsters?

You poor saps that gotta deal with your hobby clashing with your wives. Here's a cyber hug and kiss for ya.

it almost makes me want to go overboard and have them everywhere, next one is going right next to her nightstand in the bedroom...lol.:)

We have no room that I can designate as an arcade, so this is my plan!
I've already spotted a few areas in the dining room and bedroom.

thats where i had mine at our old house. in the family room and the dining room. the wife didn't like it but she couldn't move them so they stayed.

Yeah, there's something else she's concerned about that she's not telling you....

I say do what you said you would. Price the game as BIN on fleebay or wherever you want. Don't price it so it will never sale, but price it so it will take a while to sale. Maybe 400 for a working SI. 500 if you live in an area rich in fundage. Then if it sales, you've made your money. If not, you get to keep it and be able to tell her that you made an honest effort to sell it. If it does happen to sell, you can always tell her, "Damn I miss that SI, I might have to look for one in better shape to add to the collection. And just keep that spot in the garage clear. And you can keep bringing it up for months to come. But hey, that's just my 2 bits.

Standard operating procedure is to smuggle said game into the house/basement/garage under the cover of darkness.

That's exactly right. I have too many games & too many project games for my wife to keep track of - that is my strategy...

My wife goes on a girl's weekend out every year or so - those are always 'prime' smuggling opportunities!

i dunno. i think it's a combination of stuff. i need to spend more time with her, get off my ass and look for a better job, etc. so i think it's an all adding up sort of thing. i'm gonna kind of work on this and just leave the space invaders on the side and not mention it for a while and see what happens.

I been married for over 13 years - its not SI.

If you really want to get her to forget about the SI then I would say you should forget about the SI for a while - get out of the garage and go spend the day with her - its springtime - tell her you have plans for you and her for sat or sunday - tell her its a surprise.

Go to a park and take a walk - then hit the theater and see a move before you go out for a nice dinner - bet that makes all your SI problems disappear faster than your high score in a thunderstorm :p its not the money you spend its the time that counts

I think i might just take some of my own advice...

well i'm keeping it. she actually decided on her own, as i've gotten rid of a bunch of model train stuff lately that i sold to make room, and she has a dollhouse project she's working on. she came to me just now when i came home and said i could keep it. nice.

This would backfire on me for sure, she would have to pee before or after the movie. And in my short period of unattended time i would surly hit the arcade and ruin any good that came from the outing.
As far as the SI,just turn the switch off and say it blew up,you'll sell it when it's fixed. If she catches you playing it just say your trying it out after some repairs.dam i hate those intermittent problems, can't sell it this way,dam thing only works when it wants too .No wonder it was only $100 bucks .
