The Jr. Pac Man cab I have is a Ms. Pac conversion that looks pretty damn good overall except for the fact the PCB is missing.

Should I (A) Buy a Jr Pac PCB...I can get a working one shipped for under $80.00... and drop it in...

or should I (B) Buy a 48-in-1 which has Jr. Pac Man on it, drop that bad boy in and set it to run just all the pac games?

What would YOU do?

B all the way. It's a conversion anyway, and the Pacs from the multiboards are pretty spot on. Just don't paint the cab black and make a marquee out of notebook paper and you'll be OK.

She's already in decent shape... with nice CPO and bezel and front art work....

Pac-man jr

I would find the pac-man jr board for it. If you did'nt have it at the end of a Row i would'nt know it was a Ms Pac-man.

48 in 1's are becoming a dime a dozen......jr. pac's are not.

This is not a true Jr Pac.

Actually, they're priced about the same right now...but I would have to convert the cab to JAMMA (or does anyone know if the PAC to JAMMA harnesses work on Jr. Pac?)

Yes, The PAC to JAMMA harness will work for doing this.

Would be even less noticable sandwiched in between two other games.

Tough call.

Well, if you do go original Jr Pac board, you'll need the Kit Conversion PCB if you wanna it to be plug n play. Just ask Splatternutz.

So the PCB is different? I assume then that the wiring harness in there right now is a Ms. Pac wiring harness...

I agree, keep it Jr. and put it in the middle of the row. You will probably have to pay a little over $80 shipped for a Jr. conversion board, but like you said, even the 48-in-1 needs to be converted to a Jamma and those converters are not cheap. Email your east coast homey and see if he has one he can part with.

ok, i need to clarify what i meant. 48 in 1's are a dime a dozen means ya see ton's of them all over the place. just look on feebay and how many 48 in 1 converts do ya find. how many jr. pacs do ya see around??.... and yes i know it's a conversion.....but anyway, i say screw the 48 in 1 crap.

The conversion PCB converts the AC off the power supply to DC where a dedicated Jr. board uses a DC supply directly. The conversion boards look very similar to a normal Pac/Ms. Pac board with the big heat sink, two caps, the large rectifier diodes in the corner of the board near the edge connector. A dedicated board looks naked in that area.

And even though it is a conversion and not factory dedicated, it would be cool to have a Jr. only machine. At least it is a full conversion too and not just a marquee or something.

I'd get a lizard lick jamma adapter and a 48 in 1 or 60 in 1 and call it a day. Like phet said, all the Pac-Men games on the board are pretty good.

Is the bottom front of the cabinet painted? Or is that a sticker around the coin door?

It appears to be a very nicely done field conversion. Dollar for dollar, it will cost you less money to keep it a dedicated Jr. Pac.

Really? I was thinking $75 for the 48-in-1 + $25 for the converter...shipped... but I was guessing on the converter price. I've seen Jr. Pac boards on ebay for about $85-100 shipped but I am not sure if they are conversion boards. I guess I should check the cab too to see if there is a switcher or something in there or if it's all stock Ms. Pac stuff.

EDIT: I just checked and the JAMMABOARDS.COM converter is $19.95 for the JAMMA to Ms. Pac...

So basically $100 out the door to run the 48-in-1 w/converter. I think I am going to likely go that route. I was going to do that with the Pac Plus cabinet, but since Pac Plus plays, I'll leave that one alone and run the 48-in-1 in this cabinet. As long as I use the converter I'm not doing anything detrimental to the cab. Of course I'll leave the Jr. Pac stuff on it...

Well, the artwork is obviously staying and since the cab internals are already Ms. Pac-man I'd go with the 48-1 if you plan to sell it. The extra Pacs would probably maximize your return, if you list it as Jr. Pac plus bonus extra games, etc.

However, if you wanna keep the game (which I doubt) you could go with a conversion pcb...but really, are you interesting in keeping it or selling it?

I think a 48-1 would get you more dough for resale.

(Or make into a Galaga...lol)

It is most likely has the Ms. Pac power supply. The obviously had a kit (artwork) and it had a board at one point. Also, you know they didn't fix games when they broke so there wouldn't be a switcher. ;) They would just have wheeled it into the back room...

I want to keep either this cab or the Pac Plus... I want a "Pac" cab. I am going to multi the game regardless... I was going to go with a 6-pac on the Pac Plus but now I am likely just going to go 48-in-1 on the Jr Pac... which gets me an extra pac game to boot (Super Pac) and high score saves (and since the pacs all save use a single high score with no initials, that works out good too).

It's all about the CONTROLLER for me. While I can play the pacs fine on one of my MAME cabs, or one of my AS cabs, nothing feels like a true Pac stick playing Pac.

You will also need a power supply with that adapter... You need the lizardlick one if you want to use the existing power supply (which you should verify before ordering anything).

Edit: http://www.lizardlick.com/pages/boards.shtml Two thirds of the way down... It is $59+.
