Help me adjust my monitor! Pac mini, Electrohome...

...GO7-FBO. 13" I think.

Also, the picture is a little too tall, and to the right. I see V-HEIGHT. The connection on the H-CENT is on the middle peg. Can I adjust this? Can I fool around with this part (not the tube) and not get shocked? N00b questions...

When you say "too tall", do you mean the scores are going off the top of the screen? If this is a pac-mini, then your monitor is mounted vertically. This means that up and down is actually a horizontal adjustment, so you'd need to adjust the horizontal size.

Now, you can adjust the horizontal center jumper without getting shocked (unless you do it with wet hands or something). For changing the actual width top to bottom - if you look back behind the flyback you'll see the horizontal width coil. You'll need a plastic adjusting tool (can buy a cheap TV Adjustment Tool Kit at any Radio Shack) to turn it.

If the size still won't get down to the proper size, you can do a cap replacement adjustment....

This is very helpful. I'll have a look at this after dinner - thanks!

BTW - this will help in determining where the various controls are:

On top of that, you'll probably want to do a cap kit when all is said and done. G07-FBO if I remember the letters right... it's late...

Anywho, my monitor has the same issue, even after adjusting the H-Width coil, it is still about 1" too tall. So, I'm in the same boat you are, and I just need to get the rebuild kit. From what I hear, G07s hate cap kits... you'll cap it and then the HOT willl blow, then the flyback will die, then this... then that... hense why I'd (and probably everyone else) would recommend a rebuild kit and just replace all the components that can (and probably eventually will) fail.

All of that is IF you can't adjust it out using the width coil. On another side note, NEVER stick anything metal into the width coil... just because you have an alan wrench that will fit in there, don't do it. Get a set of plastic widthcoil tools and use them.

It did. Thanks!

Thanks for the advice. I'd like to eventually have a rebuild done on this one and the 13" in my DK mini (wonder how difficult that'd be?)

I adjusted the heck out of it and, despite a bend on the right - which I'm guessing might be bad caps? - the picture is now a good width, height, and has good color. Time to much some baddies.

I did that once. That was the last time I did that too. That thing got damn hot pretty damn quick.

If the monitor works, it's just a simple cap kit, although the 13" Nintendo monitors are a bit more complicated than the G07's.

You can try tweaking your horizontal frequency pot and measuring your B+ to see if it's correct, but a cap kit is probably best (along with a new flyback). There is a curl modification you can do while doing the cap kit, and is detailed in the cap kit instructions...
