Hey guys,
I picked up this SpyHunter for my son last week and I'm trying to diagnosis the issues it's having.
When I first got it; I'd turn it on and the music would start and the screen would be black. The music would stop after 20 seconds or so and that was that. The monitor was getting signal as when I would hit the SLAM switch on the coin door I'd get the white grid screen for a quick moment.

So, I decided I's rebuild the PS with a Bob Roberts rebuild kit.
and I'm still getting the same issue.

Should I continue on with the PS or move on to the PCB?

Thanks!

ERIC

Do the voltages look right now?

And if you measure the voltage on the SSIO board, what do you get there?

If you're getting good voltage there then you're probably done with your power supply and onto the boards themselves. Interconnects replaced?

I have not measured on the SSIO board.

Where would the test point be?

The MCR power supply actually outputs 4 important lines.....5VDC, 12VDC, unregulated 12VDC, and a reset signal. Your unregulated 12VDC is propaply good or you wouldn't be getting any sound. Most times a bad reset signal will result in garbage displayed on the screen. If you want to check it.....set your meter to DC volts, black lead to ground, and shove the red lead into the big 15-pin connector at the purple wire. There's only one purple wire in between both of those big 15-pin connectors. You should see approximately 5VDC.

The Peter Gunn theme generally plays at start-up. That's normal, and generally means your Cheap Squeak Deluxe sound board is working properly.

Sounds like you've got problems with the 3-board stack.

I'm thinking the same...
I think I'm going to borrow a friends known working SH PCB and see what I get.

I have my game back together again for a few days but IIRC there are some resistors that stick out on the corners and you can clip leads to these while the game is going. You want something close to 5v but it will be under.
