Museum of the Game® & International Arcade Museum® Forums

Hi everyone,

As mentioned in this older thread:
https://forums.arcade-museum.com/threads/faclon-8-video-simulator.362308/
I've had a Falcon-8 Video Simulator sitting around for a while.

Unfortunately, mine was heavily modified and partially gutted. A previous owner installed an ATX power supply, among other things.

I'm trying to identify the monitor chassis – sadly the label on the side is faded and unreadable.

Here's what I do know:
  • Manufacturer: Toei Tsushin Kogyo Co., LTD
  • CRT tube: Matsushita 200RB22
  • Code on side of chassis: TT7JBZ (printed directly on the metal)
Like a complete fool, I tried to power the monitor with 100 VAC, and… yeah – the bridge rectifier and input filter cap went up in smoke. 😬

In hindsight, I now realize that 100 VAC probably wasn't a smart guess, especially considering:
  • The main filter capacitor is 6800 µF / 35 V, which suggests a much lower input voltage.
  • The input wires were just thin red and black wires (not what you'd expect for 100 V AC).
  • The Panasonic TC-800EUD (see: archive.org/manual) uses the same CRT and runs on 12 V DC.
  • The Falcon-8's internal transformer has secondary taps for 12 VAC and 18 VAC, so maybe the monitor was powered directly from one of those?

Does anyone recognize this chassis?

Or if not, do you have an educated guess what kind of input voltage it was meant to use?

Any small hint would be truly appreciated – I'm trying to restore this thing to its original glory.

Thanks a ton and best regards from Hamburg, Germany,
Banane
