Help identify White Ball top joystick...Nintendo?

Yeah I have a complete one. It does look very much like a Nintendo stick with a white ball, but I was told that they were Taito sticks. Ask Andrewb.

He did ask me, and I didn't know. Never seen one before. I figured one of you Nintendo gurus would know, so I suggested he post it. It's an interesting piece.

If one of you could post pics of the base, that would be cool.

I'll shoot a pic of mine soon.

Seeing this joystick got me thinking that I have seen one before and then it hit me. I have a Donkey Kong in my garage which actually belongs to my brother which we bought back in 1997 or 98 from a guy who had it in his house. I don't know where he got the game or how long he had it. It was in my game room for a few years but has been in the garage sense 2001 when this picture was taken. I don't think I have ever had the control panel off as the game was working but the flyback had a crack and was arcing slowly to the frame, slow tic-tic.
Anyway as you can see in the picture it has a white ball joystick and as I remember it did feel like a Nintendo joystick. I need to dig it out one day and check it out.

i have a 2 way Japanese space invaders stick with a white top.
I wonder if there is some cultural reason for making them white?

Sankyo made the sticks for Make Trax, which are a similar type of design to Nintendo sticks, with the trapped metal pivot bushing (though they are not as well made, and have 4 springs that do the centering), and the bolt pattern is actually the same as Nintendo. Pic in this thread:

I wonder if these were also made by them, though the Make Trax stick above doesn't have a Nintendo-looking bottom of the shaft. (I have one.)

The ones on ebay also look like they have thicker shafts than the one Alan has, though it's a little hard to be certain.

Here are pics of mine. After looking at them though, it almost seems like my shaft was paired with an actual Nintendo base. I got it this way, but it's the green thread lock on some of the screws that's making me think it's TOO much like a Nintendo base to not be a Nintendo base:

I have one on my Space Demon mini too. I assumed someone just lost the black ball and replaced it with the only thing they could find to fit the threads.

The dkjr I picked up looked just like the one Phet showed. I replaced it with a black dkjr shaft/ball from Mikes, but it still doesn't feel quite right.
